Therefore, she and Kayleigh decided to take control of their health through exercise and diet.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to hard work and determination, Kayleigh\u2019s health improved dramatically, and in 2017, she was named the first person with Down syndrome to cross the finish line at Ascension Seton Austin Half Marathon.<\/p>\n<p>This year, she made up her mind to finish the 26.2-mile event, and supported\u00a0by family and friends, Kayleigh took off and finished in six hours, 43 minutes, and 51 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>The Austin Marathon <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CaZpk4mjTRH\/\">shared<\/a> video footage of the moment an emotional and exhausted Kayleigh crossed the finish line and an orange ribbon with a huge medal was placed around her neck:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/CaZpk4mjTRH\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\">\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Social media users expressed their joy at her accomplishment, one person <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CaZpk4mjTRH\/c\/18281656924026416\/\">writing<\/a>, \u201cMy heart is bursting with pride for you, Kayleigh!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHuge congratulations.
