Joe Manchin (D-WV). Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) \u2014 who has described himself as pro-life and whose father, former Pennsylvania Gov. Bob Casey, Sr. (D), took Planned Parenthood to the Supreme Court over abortion \u2014 voted in favor of the measure as well.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cBiden, Pelosi and Schumer\u2019s \u2018Abortion on Demand Until Birth Act\u2019 would enshrine an unlimited abortion \u2018right\u2019 in federal law and block common ground pro-life laws around the country, including limits on late-term abortions when unborn babies feel pain, bans on lethal discrimination abortions, and many more,\u201d Susan B Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser said ahead of the vote.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Abortion is a fundamental right.<\/p>\n<p>Women\u2019s decisions over women\u2019s health care belong to women, not to extremist right-wing legislatures.<\/p>\n<p>Today, the Senate will vote on  moving forward on the Women&#8217;s Health Protection Act to protect abortion rights.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenSchumer\/status\/1498423540005154829?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 28, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The bill comes as the U.S. Supreme Court weighs <em>Dobbs v. Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization<\/em>, a case many view as the most significant challenge to <em>Roe v. Wade<\/em> in decades \u2014 as well as the one with the highest likelihood of overturning the case that paved the way for countless abortions in the United States.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>If this bill were to become law, the Mississippi law at the center of <em>Dobbs<\/em> could be nullified, making the case moot. It would not only force the maintenance of <em>Roe<\/em>,<em>\u00a0<\/em>it would actually go beyond by allowing\u00a0the federal government to unilaterally take over the regulation of abortion in America and ensure extremely late-term abortion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe misnamed Women\u2019s Health Protection Act is the most radical abortion bill in United States history,\u201d March for Life President Jeanne Mancini said. \u201cIt would enshrine into federal law abortion on demand until the moment of birth, and it would nullify state laws \u2013 new and existing \u2013 that protect unborn children and their mothers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Act would rob the American people of their voice on this issue, even though an\u00a0overwhelming majority\u00a0(71%) including 49% of Democrats want to see abortion limited to \u2013 at most \u2013 the first three months of pregnancy,\u201d she continued. \u201cThis bill is obviously designed by pro-abortion politicians to appease the abortion lobby. Lawmakers, regardless of party affiliation, must reject it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Senators went on record Monday evening on their support for the measure \u2014 which Catholic Association Senior Fellow Maureen Ferguson dubbed \u201c<i>Roe vs. Wade<\/i>\u00a0on steroids\u201d \u2014 ahead of the midterm elections that are expected to be disastrous for Democrats. \u201cIt would override every limit on abortion everywhere in the country, including limits on late-term abortion, parental consent laws, and conscience protections for doctors and nurses who do not wish to participate in abortions,\u201d Ferguson continued.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Women\u2019s constitutionally protected right to choose is under attack in states across the country. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) was effectively forced by his left-flank to put the bill up for a vote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are here to throw cold water on the flames of anti-women bigotry and affirm five sacred words: Abortion is a fundamental right,\u201d the New York Democrat declared last week.<\/p>\n<p>The United States is already one of only seven countries in the world \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/internationalabortionnorms\/\">joining<\/a> the ranks of China and North Korea \u2014 to allow abortions past 20 weeks gestation. The bill before the Senate goes even beyond that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn pushing the Women\u2019s Health Protection Act, the Democrats show that their pro-abortion extremism knows no bounds. The law, if passed, would override the will of the people in every state that has passed, through legislative means, commonsense protections for women and babies,\u201d Catholic Association Senior Fellow Ashley McGuire said. \u201cThose protections boast strong support, even among independents and Democrats, majorities of whom do not support the late-term barbaric abortions this proposed law enshrines.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe move to bring the Act for a vote shows that the party is whipped by the abortion lobby and has lost touch with voters and reality,\u201d McGuire concluded. \u201cThe only thing more tragic than abortion is a party so committed to it that they would so brazenly override the overwhelming desire of Americans to have a say on the\u00a0issue.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Breccan F.
