Wade.<\/p>\n<p>The Women\u2019s Health Protection Act would have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/117th-congress\/senate-bill\/1975\/text\">forced<\/a> every state to allow abortions for any reason until at least the point of viability, generally defined at around six months into a pregnancy, and banned most restrictions on abortion up to the point of birth.<\/p>\n<p>Every Republican voted against the bill, and every Democrat except Sen. Joe Manchin voted in favor, NBC News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/congress\/senate-rejects-democratic-bill-codify-abortion-rights-rcna17968\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The WHPA would have invalidated all <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/17\/dobbs-jackson-womens-health-mississippi-15-weeks-abortion-roe-wade\/\">state and local laws<\/a> restricting what types of abortion procedures are permissible while banning requirements that doctors give women medical tests such as ultrasounds before administering abortions, unless such requirements also applied to \u201cmedically comparable procedures.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The bill proposed various deregulatory measures that would have loosened safety requirements nationwide for abortion providers, such as ending restrictions on doctors prescribing pills via \u201ctelemedicine\u201d for do-it-yourself <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/25\/abortion-pills-surgical-chemical-more-common\/\">chemical abortions at home<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/18\/winnebago-county-sandra-rojas-abortion-nurse-religious-freedom\/\">Abortion<\/a> is a procedure used \u201cprimarily by women,\u201d the bill explained before justifying the use of the word \u201cwoman,\u2019 and noting that \u201ctransgender men\u201d and \u201cnon-binary individuals\u201d need abortion rights too. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/21\/texas-heartbeat-act-supreme-court-abortion-law-roe-wade\/\">(RELATED: Texas Abortion Law Still In Effect As Supreme Court Sends It Back To State Court)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Abortion is a fundamental right.<\/p>\n<p>Women\u2019s decisions over women\u2019s health care belong to women, not to extremist right-wing legislatures.<\/p>\n<p>Today, the Senate will vote on moving forward on the Women\u2019s Health Protection Act to protect abortion rights.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Chuck Schumer (@SenSchumer) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenSchumer\/status\/1498423540005154829?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 28, 2022<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWomen\u2019s decisions over women\u2019s health care belong to women, not to extremist right-wing legislatures,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SenSchumer\/status\/1498423540005154829\">commented<\/a> Sen. Chuck Schumer, who called abortion a \u201cfundamental right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jeane Mancini, the president of the March for Life, said it was the most radical abortion legislation in American history. \u201cThis bill is obviously designed by pro-abortion politicians to appease the abortion lobby. Lawmakers, regardless of party affiliation, must reject it,\u201d she commented.<\/p>\n<p>The bill is an apparent attempt to codify the Supreme Court\u2019s ruling in Roe v.
