The inheritor of the Brexit Party, Reform has yet to make a considerable impact in British politics, but nevertheless follows in the mould of the Brexit Party and UKIP, both of which had an outsize impact on UK politics and won national elections.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe possibility of the Conservatives being outflanked on the right has received less attention than the recent success of the Liberal Democrats,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukonward.com\/reports\/blue-wall\/\">report<\/a> notes. \u201cBut it is worth considering the potential impact of disaffected 2019 Conservative voters finding a new home in a party like Reform UK.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Onward\u2019s research goes on to suggest that Tories would lose 53 seats as the result of the emergence of such a party during the next election, though the populists themselves would gain little from this, as their main impact would be splitting the vote, not winning seats.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026a right-wing resurgence is more problematic than a consolidated left,\u201d the paper noted, claiming a pact between the LibDems and Labour would only result in a loss of 44 seats.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Brexit Party would not actually win any seats for themselves,\u201d the paper continued. \u201cThe effect would just be to deny victory to the Conservatives.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Farage Says UK Needs \u2018Political Reform\u2019 to Drain the Westminster \u2018Swamp\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/0RwblBamUe\">https:\/\/t.co\/0RwblBamUe<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1198592352354357248?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 24, 2019<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>By contrast, the research released on Monday determines that Labour and the Liberal Democrats are less of a concern, though the Tories need to be careful in regards to maintaining their gains in the North of England, which the think tank sees as being the main battleground for the next election.<\/p>\n<p>The split-vote phenomenon is not without foundation.
