Michael Waltz (R-Fla.) <a href=\"https:\/\/waltz.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=468\">introduced a resolution<\/a> on Monday, which urged the U.S. Olympic Committee to change the winter games to a site outside of China. The resolution asked the U.S. to withdraw from the 2022 Olympic Games if the International Olympics Committee rejects the proposal.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Today, Rep. Waltz introduced a resolution to call on the U.S. Olympic Committee to withdraw from the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing unless an alternative site is found due significant human rights violations carried out by the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/CCP?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#CCP<\/a>.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/genTDIjCb6\">https:\/\/t.co\/genTDIjCb6<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Congressman Waltz Press (@RepWaltzPress) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepWaltzPress\/status\/1361383660604301315?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 15, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Despite a letter signed by 180 groups calling for a boycott of the Beijing Olympics, Chinese officials remain bullish on rejecting any disruptive efforts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also hope that the media will face up to the facts and stop disseminating such unfounded and slanderous remarks,\u201d Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated. \u201cAttempts to interfere with and disrupt the normal preparation and holding of the Olympic Games out of political motives are highly irresponsible.
