This is considered white supremacy because it allegedly reinforces \u201cpaternalism\u201d and \u201cworship of the written word.\u201d Worship of the written word is an<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/chelseatroy.com\/2020\/08\/26\/worship-of-the-written-word\/\"><span>alleged foundation<\/span><\/a> <span>of white supremacy culture, which reinforces documentation and writing skills.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Math classes that focus on helping students get the right answer are also a form of perpetuating white supremacy. The guide claims that calling answers \u201cright and wrong\u201d perpetuates objectivity, which is considered a tenet of white culture.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe concept of mathematics being purely objective is unequivocally false, and teaching it is even much less so,\u201d the guide reads. \u201cUpholding the idea that there are always right and wrong answers perpetuate objectivity.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Tracking students is considered problematic as well. The guide considers tracking students a form of \u201cpaternalism and powerhoarding\u201d as it is based on the idea that adults know what is right for students.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Certain grading practices are also a form of white supremacy, specifically participation grades. According to the organization \u201cGrading for Equity,\u201d which parrots the idea that grading practices reinforce inequity, grading any form of behavior leads to \u201cinaccurate, confusing and even misleading grading.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/how-i-learned-that-grading-students-is-racist\"><strong>RELATED: How I Learned That Grading Students Is Racist<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>Not using \u201cculturally relevant pedagogy\u201d in word problems is considered a form of white supremacy too. According to the guide, it would be a good practice to tell students to \u201cuse Ankara fabric to teach mathematical concepts such as tessellations, fractions, area, percentages, etc.\u201d But, if the problem told students to use wood or an object that does not have cultural relevance, this would be considered upholding white supremacy.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>To be more culturally inclusive, teachers must \u201cadapt homework policies to fit the needs of students of color.\u201d Teachers are also asked to \u201cidentify and challenge the ways that math is used to uphold capitalist, imperialist, and racist views.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The instructional material also suggests teachers expose students to examples of people who have used math as a form of \u201cresistance.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
