Version: 4.0.47--><div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Biden-Nominates-Jackson-to-SCOTUS-640x335-1.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">President Joe Biden on Friday spoke about his decision to nominate Federal Appeals Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court, specifically citing her race as one of the main reasons for his decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor too long our government, our courts haven\u2019t looked like America,\u201d the president said during his remarks at the White House while introducing Jackson to the American people. \u201cI believe it\u2019s time we have a court that reflects the full talents and greatness of our nation.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Biden reminded Americans of his own legal background, including serving as a lawyer, a former constitutional law professor, and the chairman of the Senate judiciary committee for many years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m almost reluctant to say: someone who has presided over more Supreme Court nominations than almost anyone living today,\u201d Biden said with a chuckle, joking he was only 28-years-old.<\/p>\n<p>The president referred to Russia\u2019s ongoing attack against Ukraine during his opening remarks.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cToday as we watch freedom and liberty under attack abroad, I\u2019m here to fulfill my responsibilities under the Constitution \u2014 to preserve freedom and liberty here in the United States of America,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Biden thanked Vice President Kamala Harris for helping him make the choice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve been fortunate to have the advice of Vice President Harris, and I mean this sincerely,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n<p>The president also praised Jackson for having \u201cextraordinary character\u201d an \u201cindependent mind,\u201d \u201cuncompromising integrity, a \u201cstrong moral compass\u201d and the \u201ccourage to stand up for what she thinks is right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jackson was nominated by Biden to replace Justice Stephen Breyer on the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Biden praised Jackson for attending Harvard University and Harvard law school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere were those who told her she shouldn\u2019t set her sights too high, but she refused to accept limits others set for her,\u201d Biden said proudly.<\/p>\n<p>The president said Jackson also served as a Supreme Court clerk under Justice Steven Breyer.<\/p>\n<p>Biden pointedly noted that Jackson had received Republican votes in the Senate for previous federal court positions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer opinions are always carefully reasoned, tethered to precedent, and demonstrate respect for how the law impacts everyday people,\u201d Biden said, adding she \u201cunderstands the broader impact of decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden also reminded his audience that he made the announcement during black history month and that she was a working mother.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have children and grandchildren and let me tell you judge, you\u2019re always a mom,\u201d Biden said. \u201cThat\u2019s not going to change no matter what you\u2019re doing.
