Ro Khanna, the chairman of the House Oversight energy subcommittee, shared a letter with the DCNF that he <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/25\/democrats-congress-strategic-petroleum-reserve-joe-biden\/\">signed<\/a> with fellow congressional Democrats asking President Joe Biden to tap the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in light of increasing oil and gasoline prices. Russia <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/dnav\/pet\/pet_move_neti_a_EP00_IMN_mbblpd_m.htm\">provided<\/a>\u00a0more oil to the U.S. than any other country except Canada and was Europe\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/statistics-explained\/index.php?title=EU_imports_of_energy_products_-_recent_developments#Main_suppliers_of_natural_gas_and_petroleum_oils_to_the_EU\">main supplier<\/a> in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Major fossil fuel industry groups <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/24\/fossil-fuel-industry-oil-gas-production-russia-ukraine\/\">urged<\/a> the Biden administration to unleash domestic oil and gas drilling, noting its importance for both U.S. national security and stability abroad. Several elected <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepRalphNorman\/status\/1497250410624688151\">Republicans<\/a> have also <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WesleyHuntTX\/status\/1496922077114544128?s=20&#038;t=4uazGF8ZML7BwlRSzeNd_A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">joined<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepBice\/status\/1497229016234967047\">calls<\/a> for greater fossil fuel production at home. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/22\/wind-power-european-union-energy-crisis-fossil-fuels-russia\/\">(RELATED: Weak Wind Power To Blame For European Energy Crisis, Greater Reliance On Fossil Fuels: REPORT)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnergy security is national security,\u201d House Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Cathy McMorris Rodgers said in a statement shared with the DCNF. \u201cIt\u2019s now clearer than ever what is at stake when anti-American energy policies make us and Europe more dependent on Russian oil and natural gas. President Putin and Russia\u2019s economy are dependent upon dominating energy production and exporting to other nations.
