Shapiro has said he has taken the vaccine, but The Daily Wire led a successful lawsuit against a Biden administration proposal that would have compelled businesses that employ 100 or more people to require them to get vaccinated or face the possibility of being fired.<\/p>\n<p>The self-appointed media fact-checkers have regularly taken a tendentious approach to Daily Wire material, while turning a blind eye to open fabrications from the legacy media.<\/p>\n<p>These statements tend to cluster around successful undertakings by this website and its principals. For instance in 2019, on the day after Ben Shapiro\u2019s book \u201cThe Right Side of History\u201d reached number one on the New York Times\u2019 bestseller list, The Economist ran an article <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/after-shapiros-book-hits-1-ny-times-list-economist-daily-wire\">calling<\/a> Shapiro a \u201cpop idol of the alt-right.\u201d Shapiro, an Orthodox Jew, has frequently criticized the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/university.acton.org\/course\/alt-right-christian-perspective\">Alt-Right<\/a>\u201d \u2014 a term coined and popularized by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/identities\/2019\/11\/4\/20947833\/richard-spencer-white-nationalism-audio-milo-alt-right\">raging anti-Semite<\/a> Richard Spencer. Rather than correct the matter, the Boston Globe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/boston-globe-issues-correction-after-smearing-ben-shapiros-daily-wire-as-alt-right-outpost-backlash\">called<\/a> The Daily Wire an \u201cAlt-Right outpost\u201d a few months later.<\/p>\n<p>The attacks resumed last July, when NPR attacked The Daily Wire (at your expense) without citing any false statement in our reporting. The taxpayer-funded news outlet instead <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2021\/07\/19\/1013793067\/outrage-as-a-business-model-how-ben-shapiro-is-using-facebook-to-build-an-empire\">quoted<\/a> Jaime Settle of the College of William &#038; Mary saying that The Daily Wire\u2019s stories \u201ctend to not provide very much context for the information that they are providing. If you\u2019ve stripped enough context away, any piece of truth can become a piece of misinformation.\u201d In other words, The Daily Wire\u2019s coverage is different; it comes without left-wing editorializing and Woke \u201ccontext\u201d posing as reporting.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, The Daily Wire has been labeled as a source of misinformation even though we got the facts right. For instance:<\/p>\n<p>Snopes denounced a Daily Wire article titled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/report-aoc-was-not-inside-capitol-building-during-breach-on-jan-6\">Report: AOC Was Not Inside Capitol Building During Breach<\/a>\u201d on January 6 as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.snopes.com\/fact-check\/aoc-capitol-attack\/\">Mostly False<\/a>.\u201d The reason? While \u201cOcasio-Cortez wasn\u2019t in the main Capitol building where the House and Senate Chambers are located,\u201d nonetheless \u201cOcasio-Cortez never claimed to be in the main Capitol building.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then again, The Daily Wire\u2019s story never <em>claimed<\/em> Ocasio-Cortez claimed to be in the main Capitol building. By Snopes\u2019 logic, its \u201cMostly False\u201d rating is mostly false.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a weird fact-check from Snopes,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/benshapiro\/status\/1357299269519163395\">wrote<\/a> Ben Shapiro last February. \u201cI mean, they say that \u2018what\u2019s true\u2019 is EXACTLY what the DW tweet says. Then they call the DW tweet \u2018misleading.\u2019 Almost as though they\u2019re just a Left-wing spin outfit.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This is a weird fact-check from Snopes. I mean, they say that &#8220;what&#8217;s true&#8221; is EXACTLY what the DW tweet says. Then they call the DW tweet &#8220;misleading.&#8221; Almost as though they&#8217;re just a Left-wing spin outfit. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/IvkD8wiguz\">pic.twitter.com\/IvkD8wiguz<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/benshapiro\/status\/1357299269519163395?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 4, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Snopes made its political calculations clear. It lumped The Daily Wire in with an alleged \u201cright-wing disinformation machine\u201d that engaged in \u201ca circus of cyberbullying.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A few days later, Snopes rated a Daily Wire story about the Loudoun County (Virginia) Public Schools decision to cancel Dr. Seuss as \u201cMostly False\u201d because \u201cDr. Seuss\u2019 books have not been banned by the school system or limited in any way; they remain available to the students in libraries and classrooms.\u201d Once again, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/oh-the-places-the-woke-will-go-dr-seuss-canceled-for-racial-undertones\">The Daily Wire\u2019s story<\/a> did not say the school district had pulled the books from its libraries; it accurately reported that the school system would not recognize the beloved children\u2019s author during \u201cRead Across America Day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, media fact-checkers let legacy media outlets spin and mislead with impunity. For example, CNN medical expert and former president of Planned Parenthood, Dr. Leana Wen, claimed that she had changed her position on mask mandates, because \u201c<em>the science has changed.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>We know that vaccines protect very well against Omicron, which is the dominant variant. Everyone five and older have [sic] widespread access to vaccines. And we also know about one-way masking \u2014 the idea that, even if other people around you aren\u2019t wearing masks, if you wear a high-quality mask, that also protects you, the wearer, too.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Yet the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/fact-check-did-the-science-really-change-on-mask-mandates\">science had not changed<\/a> on any of those issues since Wen advised the Biden administration to implement COVID-19 vaccination passports.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes it is the fact-checkers themselves who spin misinformation. Last May, The Washington Post\u2019s Glenn Kessler <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/from-impossible-to-credible-how-the-legacy-media-is-desperately-spinning-their-wuhan-lab-flip-flop\">claimed<\/a> that \u201cthe Wuhan lab-leak theory suddenly became credible.\u201d But the \u201cnew\u201d information he cited had been known for months.<\/p>\n<p>Curiously, the most recent attacks against The Daily Wire mention \u2014 or coincide with \u2014 The Daily Wire\u2019s successes. NPR noted that in 2021, \u201cThe Daily Wire<em>,<\/em>\u00a0received more likes, shares and comments on Facebook than any other news publisher by a wide margin.\u201d The Washington Post also noted this website\u2019s stories \u201cdrew more interactions \u2014 likes, comments and shares \u2014 than the New York Times, The Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times and NPR combined.\u201d The NPR story came near the time this website released its \u201cMorning Wire\u201d podcast, while The Washington Post story comes shortly after the highly successful debut of The Daily Wire\u2019s first entertainment offering, \u201cShut In.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Whatever the reason for the prevalence of exacting or erroneous fact-checks against The Daily Wire, facts have nothing to do with it.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
