Musk also promised that he would behave if the president were to host him despite previously <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/29\/elon-musk-joe-biden-electric-vehicles-tesla\/\">calling him<\/a> a \u201cdamp sock puppet\u201d and being a <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/07\/elon-musk-democrats-joe-biden-electric-vehicle-build-back-better\/\">vocal opponent<\/a> of his administration\u2019s policies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have nothing to worry about,\u201d Musk told CNBC in the email exchange. \u201cI would do the right thing.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/02\/08\/joe-biden-electric-vehicle-factory-australia-tesla-elon-musk\/\">(RELATED: Biden Boosts Australian EV Company, Continues To Ignore Tesla)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe notion of a feud is not quite right,\u201d he continued. \u201cBiden has pointedly ignored Tesla at every turn and falsely stated to the public that GM leads the electric car industry, when in fact Tesla produced over 300,000 electric vehicles last quarter and GM produced 26.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The White House <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/tesla-wasnt-invited-to-white-house-electric-cars-summit-2021-8\">has yet to invite<\/a> Musk or Tesla to an in-person or virtual event in the 13 months Biden has been in office. (Nic Antaya\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>When asked if the president\u2019s silence on Tesla was related the company being a non-union shop in August, White House press secretary Jen Psaki <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/2021\/08\/05\/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-jen-psaki-and-secretary-of-education-miguel-cardona-august-5-2021\/\">noted<\/a> the automakers invited to a recent event were the \u201clargest employers of the United Auto Workers\u201d and that the reporter was free to draw their \u201cown conclusion.\u201d In November, deputy press secretary Chris Meagher <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/2021\/11\/17\/press-gaggle-by-deputy-press-secretary-chris-meagher-en-route-detroit-michigan\/\">said<\/a> \u201ccreating good-paying union jobs\u201d was a major component of Biden\u2019s climate agenda after a question about Tesla during a news briefing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt got to the point, hilariously, where no one in the administration was even allowed to say the word \u2018Tesla\u2019! The public outrage and media pressure about that statement forced him to admit that Tesla does in fact lead the EV industry. I wouldn\u2019t exactly call that \u2018praise,&#8217;\u201d Musk added, CNBC reported.<\/p>\n<p>Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/02\/08\/remarks-by-president-biden-on-rebuilding-our-manufacturing-to-make-more-in-america\/\">made his first reference<\/a> to Tesla during a White House event hosting an Australian EV charger company on Feb. 8. The president briefly acknowledged Tesla as the largest U.S. EV manufacturer.<\/p>\n<p>White House staff, meanwhile, have been angered by Musk\u2019s continued criticism of the administration with some calling him an \u201ca-hole,\u201d several anonymous people familiar told CNBC.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla vehicles represented 79% of all EV sales in 2020,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2021\/02\/16\/tesla-owns-electric-car-market-us\/\">according<\/a>\u00a0to Experian data. The Texas-based company\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sec.gov\/ix?doc=\/Archives\/edgar\/data\/1318605\/000095017022000796\/tsla-20211231.htm\">employed<\/a>\u00a099,290 total workers as of Dec. 31, according to Securities and Exchange Commission filings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTesla has done extraordinary things for electric vehicles and that\u2019s a big part of why the whole industry now knows EVs are the future,\u201d a White House spokesperson told CNBC in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The White House didn\u2019t immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.<\/p>\n<p>Content created by The Daily Caller News Foundation is available without charge to any eligible news publisher that can provide a large audience.
