She was in a coma for over a week before she succumbed to traumatic brain injuries, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.miamiherald.com\/miami-com\/miami-com-news\/article258637558.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">according to the Miami Herald<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>While she was in the coma, family members reported that Bethel had been involved in an unspecified \u201caccident.\u201d Later, police <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/human-interest\/miss-alabama-zoe-bethel-death-was-tragic-accident-police-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told People<\/a> that the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner ruled her cause of death as blunt force trauma in a \u201ctragic accident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a statement to The Post, Bethel\u2019s family wrote that \u201cif she had a choice, she would still be here with us today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe initial police report is simply preliminary and is not conclusive, and is further absent specific facts from eyewitness testimony that would alter the \u2018incident type\u2019 status listed on the preliminary police report.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Miami Police Department has not responded to The Post\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/02\/zoe-sozo-bethel-11.jpg?quality=90&#038;strip=all\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1019\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/02\/zoe-sozo-bethel-11.jpg?quality=90&#038;strip=all&#038;w=1019\" alt=\"Bethel&#039;s family members had originally claimed the incident was an \" accident \/><\/a><figcaption>Bethel\u2019s family members originally claimed the incident was an \u201caccident.\u201d<\/figcaption><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">instagram\/@zosobe<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>They added that from an early age, Bethel \u201cwas taught to stand up for the truth and to never be apologetic. She was a devout believer in Jesus Christ and was a strong conservative who was very patriotic. She loved God and valued her life as well as the lives of those around her. To cover Bethel\u2019s medical and other expenses, the family created a GoFundMe page, which has raised over $45,000 at the time of writing.<\/p>\n<p>After her death, her family wrote that they did everything they could to save her. She was beautiful inside and out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Truth Gazette offered its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Truth_Gazette\/status\/1494807118658035715\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">condolences on Twitter, writing:<\/a>\u00a0\u201cIf you were lucky enough to know her, you loved her. Even if you never met her but got the chance to follow her work over the years, you felt like you knew her.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe just had that big of a personality,\u201d Brilyn Hollyhand, the founder
