The claim stems from a website that features \u201chumor, parody, and satire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Fact Check:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Facebook post, which features an image of former President Barack Obama standing behind Sotomayor, claims the supreme court justice was arrested by U.S. Marines on Feb. 16. The arrest allegedly came after a \u201c3-month investigation into whether she had accepted cash payoffs for rulings favoring mask and vaccination mandates and knowingly made false statements to amplify Covid fear,\u201d according to the Feb. 19 post, which links to a story from the website \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/trutharchives.com\/military-arrests-scj-sonia-sotomayor\/?fbclid=IwAR3vbjPmSHJI5HNUXzydbxWgkrQQmg-F9mOnSxU_UsQkdPxtpTVTs6fFziU\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Truth Archives<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There is no evidence that Sotomayor has been arrested by the military. Neither the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fbi.gov\/news\/pressrel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Federal Bureau of Investigation<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.defense.gov\/News\/Releases\/?Search=Sonia+Sotomayor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Department of <\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile\/100064688230749\/search\/?q=Sonia%20Sotomayor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Defense<\/a> nor the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/news?keys=Sonia+Sotomayor&#038;items_per_page=25\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Department<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile\/100064654872564\/search\/?q=Sonia%20Sotomayor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">of Justice<\/a> have issued a press release or <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%22Sonia%20Sotomayor%22%20(from%3AFBI%20OR%20from%3ADeptofDefense%20OR%20from%3ATheJusticeDept)&#038;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social media<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/profile\/100064907253444\/search\/?q=Sonia%20Sotomayor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">posts<\/a> announcing such an arrest. There is likewise no mention of the purported detainment on the Supreme Court\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/publicinfo\/press\/pressreleases.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>. Sotomayor was present at the Supreme Court on Feb. 22 to hear oral arguments, days after her alleged arrest, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/02\/22\/politics\/sotomayor-mask\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNN<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>An internet search reveals the post\u2019s text first surfaced in a Feb. 18 <a href=\"https:\/\/realrawnews.com\/2022\/02\/military-arrests-scj-sonia-sotomayor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">article<\/a> published by the website Real Raw News. The site\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/realrawnews.com\/about-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">About Us<\/a>\u201d page explains it \u201ccontains humor, parody, and satire.\u201d\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/01\/11\/fact-check-sotomayor-dinner-democrats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Was Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor Recently Pictured Attending A Dinner With Democratic Leaders?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Check Your Fact <a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/05\/25\/fact-check-us-military-amy-coney-barrett-house-arrest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">debunked<\/a> a similar claim in May 2021 that alleged Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett was put under house arrest by the military.
