Instead, her bail was denied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a substantial risk you will continue these actions and will not abide by an order,\u201d the judge told Lich, according to Global News reporter David Akin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour recent history in our city \u2026 satisfies me that your detention is necessary for the safety and protection of the public,\u201d the judge added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&#8220;There is a substantial risk you will continue these actions and will not abide by an order,\u201d judge tells Lich.  \u201cYour recent history in our city \u2026 satisfies me that your detention is necessary for the safety and protection of the public.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 David Akin \ud83c\udde8\ud83c\udde6 (@davidakin) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/davidakin\/status\/1496125741859328000?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 22, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Another post noted the judge <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/davidakin\/status\/1496125923892023304\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stating<\/a>, \u201cI found your testimony to be guarded and your attitude almost to be obstructive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The response appeared harsh, as Lich \u201chas no criminal record and is ready to abide by conditions imposed on her by the court should she be released,\u201d Global News chief political correspondent David Akin wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Lich, in court in Ottawa wearing a mask and her black ski jacket, has now spent five nights in jail in Ottawa. Co-convoy organizer Chris Barber was released on $100,000 bail with promises to return home to Swift Current SK and cease being a convoy organizer.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 David Akin \ud83c\udde8\ud83c\udde6 (@davidakin) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/davidakin\/status\/1496124716117114886?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 22, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In addition to Lich\u2019s arrest, Ottawa police said in a statement on Monday that officers \u201chave made 196 arrests, with 110 facing a variety of charges,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/canada\/tamara-lich-key-organizer-of-protests-in-ottawa-denied-bail-1.5790773\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to<\/a> CTV News Canada.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOttawa police also said 115 vehicles connected to the protest have been towed,\u201d according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>Canadian law enforcement used crowd-control tactics including horses, pepper spray, and clubs to arrest Freedom Convoy protesters out of downtown Ottawa over the weekend. The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/watch-ottawa-police-use-pepper-spray-clubs-horses-against-freedom-convoy-protesters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>Law enforcement launched a campaign to break the protest, which has gone on for weeks after truckers rolled into the city in late January to protest against vaccine mandates. The demonstration has since grown to oppose other COVID-19 restrictions as well.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act, enacted in 1989 as a successor to the War Measures Act, on Monday as a \u201clast resort\u201d to deal with the Freedom Convoy protest that has camped outside of Parliament for roughly three weeks. Law enforcement began what could be its final crackdown on the protest on Friday after thousands of officers reportedly circled the protest area.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Police began making arrests and towing vehicles. Several hours into the sweep, police have arrested at least 70 protesters and removed over 20 vehicles, according to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OttawaPolice\/status\/1494777102608052228\">Ottawa Police Department<\/a>.
