Version: 4.0.47--><div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/dw-wp-production.imgix.net\/2022\/02\/GettyImages-1209733560.jpg?w=1200&#038;h=800&#038;ixlib=react-9.3.0\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/div>\n<p><span>Turns out, all it took was a little pressure from a few NFL agents in order to get the NFL combine to relent on it\u2019s COVID-19 \u201cbubble.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On Sunday, NFL agents representing 150 NFL prospects threatened a boycott of the 2022 NFL combine following news that draft prospects will be in a COVID-19 \u201cbubble,\u201d restricting prospects to secure areas inside the combine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAgents representing more than 150 draft prospects are organizing a boycott of all testing, on-field workouts and interviews at next month\u2019s NFL scouting combine if heavy \u2018bubble\u2019 restrictions aren\u2019t changed, sources tell me and [Tom Pelissero],\u201d Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported on Twitter.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>One of the key concerns of the agents was that players would not have full access to their personal trainer, nutritionists, and doctors, according to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/33341018\/agents-threaten-boycott-nfl-scouting-combine-concerns-covid-19-bubble-sources-say\"><span>ESPN<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On Monday, the National Invitational Combine (NIC) amended their \u201cbubble\u201d restrictions at the combine, informing players in a memo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAs has been the case throughout the pandemic, we continue to evolve our combine policies and procedures in consultation with medical experts,\u201d the memo <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AdamSchefter\/status\/1495910315141308419?cxt=HHwWhoC53bCgxcIpAAAA\"><span>said<\/span><\/a><span>. \u201cWhile masks continue to be required for air travel and during medical exams at the combine (players and medical personnel), wearing a mask at other times while on site is recommended, but not required.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cWe encourage all players to remain within the secure combine areas at all times for your safety,\u201d the memo <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AdamSchefter\/status\/1495910315141308419?cxt=HHwWhoC53bCgxcIpAAAA\"><span>continued<\/span><\/a><span>. \u201cHowever, if you would like to leave the secure areas during free time in your schedule, you are now permitted to do so at your own risk.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The 2022 NFL combine will begin March 1 following a year in which the combine was canceled altogether due to COVID-19 concerns.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>On Saturday, the NFL sent a memo to all draft prospects regarding the rules at the 2022 draft combine.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe 2022 NFL Combine features key changes designed to improve the overall player experience and protect the players from a health safety standpoint,\u201d the NFL <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TomPelissero\/status\/1495112835264921605?s=20&#038;t=NmQF4P0fqSW35qr2M3NebQ\"><span>said<\/span><\/a><span> in the memo. \u201cThis includes fewer days on site, reduced testing schedule, new communication platform, scheduled medical examination, customized meal options\/timing, single room accommodations and secure environment to reduce distractions and help limit potential COVID exposure.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Per the NFL\u2019s memo, players would have been \u201crestricted to secure Combine venues\u201d while in Indianapolis, the location of the 2022 NFL Combine. Players who violated the policy would have been sent home.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In the initial memo, the NFL reiterated that all individuals with access to players must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The vaccination requirement was not addressed in the NIC\u2019s memo to players on Monday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Prior to the beginning of the 2021 season, the NFL required that all Tier 1 staff \u2014 which includes coaches, front-office executives, equipment managers, and staff \u2014 be fully vaccinated unless they receive a medical or religious exemption.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span>Joe Morgan is the Sports Reporter for The Daily Wire.
