It\u2019s a hard process and I have been denied by one of my schools, and it was Mercer University,\u201d she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.walb.com\/2022\/01\/21\/albany-teen-accepted-48-universities-earns-600k-scholarships\/\">told<\/a> WALB. \u201cAnd so after I got denied, I just thought I might not get accepted into anymore. It was a setback.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>But 48 acceptance letters and $600,000 in scholarship offers later, according to WFXL, Sawyer\u2019s future is looking as bright as can be.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">AMAZING! Monroe High School&#8217;s Kenyari Sawyer was inspired by her mother who couldn&#8217;t go to college after getting pregnant with her. She has received the University of Georgia Certificate of Merit, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsbtv.com\/news\/local\/georgia-high-school-senior-accepted-48-colleges-awarded-600k-scholarships\/RCUPLP3LBNFDNDWXCJJC4D3XD4\/\">according to<\/a> WSBTV.<\/p>\n<p>Sawyer says she gets much of her work ethic and motivation from her mother and who made sacrifices for her while growing up.<\/p>\n<p><span> \u201cI wanted to go to school because she wasn\u2019t able to at the time. She was only able to receive her associate\u2019s degree but it was at a later time because she had to take care of me,\u201d said Sawyer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Frederick Polite, principal of Monroe High School, told WALB that Sawyer is a role model and an inspiration to her classmates.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>That\u2019s what we expect from all of our students at Monroe High School. We\u2019re pushing every student to be college and career-ready. She\u2019s on that college side and she\u2019s getting the other classmates involved. At Albany Tech, I recently just took Juvenile Delinquency, but I am done with that class now. Now, I am taking a survey of American History,\u201d Sawyer told WFXL.<\/p>\n<p>She has her eyes set on majoring in criminal justice, becoming a defense attorney, and starting her own law firm, WALB reports.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the 17-year-old held an informational session at her high school, where she shared tips with other students on how to succeed.<\/p>\n<p><span> \u201cDo not be scared and go for what you want,\u201d she said, per WFXL. \u201cIf you want it, go for it, and do not let people talk down on you.
