It landed me in intensive care for quite awhile and it really was touch-and-go. Some of you who\u2019ve wanted to put me out of my misery darn near got what you wished for! So, sorry to disappoint you,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/watch-fox-news-cavuto-rips-cnn-paybacks-b-frank-camp\/\">Cavuto<\/a> began.<\/p>\n<p>Cavuto went on to explain that because of his immunocompromised status \u2014 he has had cancer in the past and is currently battling the autoimmune disease Multiple Sclerosis \u2014 he was not only at greater risk for <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/next-covid-variant-could-be-more-dangerous-than-omicron-scientists-say\/\">complications of COVID-19<\/a>, but he was also part of the very small segment of the population for whom vaccines were not quite as effective.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut let me be clear, doctors say had I not been vaccinated at all, I wouldn\u2019t be here,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt provided some defense, but that is still better than no defense. Maybe not great comfort for some of you. And frankly, not great comfort for me either!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was scary. How scary? I\u2019m talking Ponderosa suddenly out of the prime rib in the middle of the buffet line scary! That\u2019s how scary,\u201d Cavuto added with a smile. He concluded by saying that he didn\u2019t intend to start a debate on vaccines, but that he felt he owed viewers an explanation for his lengthy absence from his shows.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">After being off air for over a month, Fox&#8217;s Neil Cavuto returned today to reveal he had been in the ICU with &#8220;covid pneumonia&#8221; and that it was really &#8220;touch-and-go&#8221; and &#8220;scary&#8221; for a while.<\/p>\n<p>He once again credits vaccines for saving his life due to his immunocompromised status. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/aP4esWc4rF\">pic.twitter.com\/aP4esWc4rF<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Justin Baragona (@justinbaragona) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/justinbaragona\/status\/1495812809019568131?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 21, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Cavuto has been off the air since January 11, and in his absence, a number of Fox News and Fox Business hosts have stepped up to fill the gap \u2014 among them \u201cAmerica Reports\u201d anchor Sandra Smith, \u201cMaking Money\u201d host Charles Payne, and \u201cBulls &#038; Bears\u201d host David Asman.<\/p>\n<p>Cavuto had previously missed several days back in October after contracting COVID-19 for the first time, returning to the air with an impassioned plea to viewers to get vaccinated. He noted Monday that the network\u2019s decision to make no announcement when he contracted the virus for a second time was his idea.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI asked them not to say anything. They were honoring my wishes out of respect for my privacy, even though they were getting a lot of heat trying to protect my privacy. I wasn\u2019t really hiding anything.
