Police will simply ask for your reason for travelling within the area.<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/ottnews?src=hash&#038;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#ottnews<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vDr63iZw1h\">pic.twitter.com\/vDr63iZw1h<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ottawa Police (@OttawaPolice) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OttawaPolice\/status\/1495773165221470213?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 21, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThere is another phase that will identify how we maintain the streets, how we eventually demobilize, once we\u2019ve identified that there is no threat of further protests coming to our city,\u201d police chief Bell said on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy commissioner with the Ontario Provincial Police Chris Harkins added that police seized 76 vehicles in Ottawa over the weekend and suspended many private and commercial drivers\u2019 licenses.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau invoking the Emergencies Act for the first time in Canadian history last week, police had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/09\/ottawa-tow-truck-companies-refuse-haul-away-freedom-convoy-trucks\/\">difficulties finding tow truck operators<\/a> willing to tow the semi-trucks and other vehicles in the Canadian capital. Under the Emergencies Act, the government is able to force tow truck operators to carry out their work or they could face potential fines or prison time if they refuse.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">WATCH: Canada Protesters Trampled By Police Horses, 100 Arrested <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/BRzsfcYcH5\">https:\/\/t.co\/BRzsfcYcH5<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1495225549106601985?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 20, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Following the removal of the protestors, police have set up <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OttawaPolice\/status\/1495773165221470213?s=20&#038;t=-u9IZ6tHXAoLIqdol2jsPw\">around a hundred checkpoints<\/a> across part of downtown Ottawa and it is unclear when the checkpoints will be removed.<\/p>\n<p>Police chief Bell indicated that the measures will remain in place to ensure \u201ccommunity healing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe promised earlier this week that we would clear our streets and give them back to our residents.
