It will be a war waged by Russia on the Ukrainian people to repress them, to crush them, to harm them,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Sullivan also argued the U.S. is \u201cprepared to respond decisively if Russia moves on Ukraine,\u201d though diplomatic efforts continue.<\/p>\n<p>White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki released a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/02\/20\/statement-from-press-secretary-jen-psaki-5\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> from the White House on Sunday reaffirming the president\u2019s efforts to continue diplomatic efforts \u201cuntil the moment an invasion begins.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the President has repeatedly made clear, we are committed to pursuing diplomacy until the moment an invasion begins. Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Lavrov are scheduled to meet later this week in Europe, provided Russia does not proceed with military action. President Biden accepted in principle a meeting with President Putin following that engagement, again, if an invasion hasn\u2019t happened,\u201d Psaki said in the statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are always ready for diplomacy. We are also ready to impose swift and severe consequences should Russia instead choose war. And currently, Russia appears to be continuing preparations for a full-scale assault on Ukraine very soon,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Biden reportedly also held a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/statements-releases\/2022\/02\/20\/readout-of-president-bidens-call-with-president-emmanuel-macron-of-france-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">call<\/a> on Sunday with French President Emmanuel Macron regarding the situation in Ukraine.
