During an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=hOkNfdOstR8\">interview<\/a> on NBC\u2019s Meet the Press on Sunday, Mayor London Breed said the board members were not doing their fundamental job.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cIn this particular case, the board neglected their primary responsibility to focus on other things,\u201d she stated. \u201cOther things that are important, but not as significant as what they were there to do and that is to educate children\u2026parents were upset, the city as a whole was upset and the decision to recall school board members was a result of that.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The recall effort came amid controversy regarding extended coronavirus shutdowns of schools and the board members\u2019 attempts to rename 44 schools they said honored figures promoting racism, including George Washington and Abraham Lincoln among several other progressive policies.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cThey are so egregiously incompetent so we need to get them out now and we have the voters have spoken,\u201d said recall supporter Paulina Fayer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Former School Board President Gabriela Lopez previously blamed white supremacy for her losing her post while claiming she was punished for fighting for racial justice.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Far-left school boards have failed our kids.<\/p>\n<p>Democrat San Francisco Mayor London Breed: &#8220;In San Francisco, for some time now our private schools were open even when our public schools couldn&#8217;t get it together.&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/kNTDflGXAL\">pic.twitter.com\/kNTDflGXAL<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 RNC Research (@RNCResearch) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RNCResearch\/status\/1495425421126557708?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 20, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>However, the Democrat mayor said they have failed the city\u2019s children. Breed highlighted this is not a political issue, but an issue about education. She added, at the end of the day kids were not in school when they should have been.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>\u201cI\u2019m going to be looking for people that are going to focus on the priorities of the school district and not on politics, and not on what it means to run for office and stepping stones,\u201d Breed explained. \u201cAnd so on and so forth.
