Greg Abbott (R) showed a five-point lead over Democrat Robert Francis \u201cBeto\u201d O\u2019Rourke&nbsp;in a hypothetical head-to-head gubernatorial poll from&nbsp;Climate Nexus.<\/p>\n<p>The poll <a href=\"https:\/\/climatenexus.org\/media\/pdf\/Texas-Poll-Toplines.pdf\">found<\/a> that 45 percent of the registered Texas voters surveyed said they would vote for Abbott, five percent more than would vote for the Democrat.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Only 40 percent of the respondents said they would vote for O\u2019Rourke, who has tried to rebrand himself after two&nbsp;failed campaign attempts \u2014 losing against Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in 2018 and a failed presidential election bid in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>There were also 7 percent of respondents who said they would vote for neither candidate or someone else, and 8 percent said they were \u201cnot sure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The poll asked 933 registered voters in Texas from February 1 to 9 and had a margin of error of +\/- 3.3 percent.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Abbott has come out in front of&nbsp;O\u2019Rourke in all of the most recent polls ahead of the primary elections, set for March 1.<\/p>\n<p>The polls showing Abbott ahead of the Democrat have been continuous; he also has the support of former President Donald Trump. On the other hand, O\u2019Rourke does not want any help from outside sources.&nbsp;Last month the Democrat&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1485770340471033859?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1485770340471033859%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com%2Fpolitics%2F2022%2F01%2F31%2Fpoll-texas-gov-greg-abbott-holds-double-digit-lead-over-beto-orourke%2F\">said<\/a> during a press conference that&nbsp;he wants President Joe Biden and any other politician from Washington, DC, to stay away from his campaign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not interested in any national politician \u2014 anyone outside of Texas \u2014 coming into this state to help decide the outcome of this,\u201d O\u2019Rourke said, noting that he only wants to \u201cwork with\u201d and \u201clisten to\u201d people from the Lone Star State.<\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of the month, a&nbsp;hypothetical head-to-head gubernatorial <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/14\/texas-poll-gov-greg-abbott-holds-10-point-lead-over-beto-orourke\/\">poll<\/a>&nbsp;between the two candidates from the&nbsp;Texas Politics Project at the University of Texas at Austin showed Abbott with a ten-point lead ahead of&nbsp;O\u2019Rourke,&nbsp;47 percent to 37 percent.<\/p>\n<p>In January, two other polls showed similar results. One poll from <i>Dallas Morning News<\/i>-University of Texas at Tyler also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/31\/poll-texas-gov-greg-abbott-holds-double-digit-lead-over-beto-orourke\/\">showed<\/a> Abbott with a&nbsp;double-digit lead over O\u2019Rourke,&nbsp;47 percent to 36&nbsp;percent. The second poll, from&nbsp;the Hobby School of Public Affairs,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/01\/30\/texas-poll-beto-orourke-trails-gov-greg-abbott-five-points-general-election\/\">showed<\/a>&nbsp;Abbott with a five-point lead over O\u2019Rourke,&nbsp;48 percent to&nbsp;43 percent.<\/p>\n<p><i>Jacob Bliss is a reporter for Breitbart News.
