Version: 4.0.47--><p class=\"subheading\">President Joe Biden still has not outlined a China strategy after his first year in office, ignoring some of the major economic and national security issues that the communist government poses to the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re starting from an approach of patience as it relates to our relationship with China,\u201d White House press secretary Jen Psaki <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/usa-biden-china-idCNW1N2E102P\">said<\/a> after Biden\u2019s inauguration in January 2021 when asked about the president\u2019s China policy.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe are not in a rush,\u201d she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/2021\/02\/17\/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-jen-psaki-and-deputy-national-security-advisor-for-cyber-and-emerging-technology-anne-neuberger-february-17-2021\/\">explained<\/a> a month later when asked the question about China again. \u201cWe are focused on communicating and working with our partners and allies around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Biden appears to have employed a maximum patience strategy with China, despite its failure to meet its commitments from the phase one deal made with former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_18273530\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/GettyImages-665833844.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18273530\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/GettyImages-665833844.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">U.S. President Donald Trump (L) and Chinese President Xi Jinping (R) walk together at the Mar-a-Lago estate in West Palm Beach, Florida, April 7, 2017 (JIM WATSON\/AFP via Getty Images).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Biden administration officials anonymously expressed frustrations that China failed to meet its commitments to purchase $200 billion in goods and services from the United States as part of the phase one part of the deal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause we inherited this deal, we engaged the (People\u2019s Republic of China) on its purchase commitment shortfalls, both to fight for U.S. farmers, ranchers and manufacturers and give China the opportunity to follow through on its commitments,\u201d a Biden administration official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/exclusive-us-calls-concrete-action-china-meet-phase-1-purchase-commitments-2022-02-07\/\">told<\/a> Reuters in February. \u201cBut our patience is wearing thin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden\u2019s United States Trade Representative, Sarah Bianchi, said the United States was \u201ctrying\u201d to address China\u2019s failure to meet its commitments but did not demonstrate any significant progress.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou know, it is really clear that the Chinese haven\u2019t met their commitment in Phase 1. That\u2019s something we\u2019re trying to address,\u201d Bianchi <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/usa-trade-china-idTRNIKBN2K63V8\">told<\/a> a Washington International Trade Association forum.<\/p>\n<p>The president has avoided aggressive rhetoric against China, <a href=\"https:\/\/time.com\/5995109\/biden-congress-speech-china\">repeating<\/a> he wants a relation of \u201ccompetition not conflict.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cChina and the United States should respect each other, coexist in peace, and pursue win-win cooperation,\u201d Biden said in November during a video conference call with Chinese President Xi Jinping.<\/p>\n<p>Most of Biden\u2019s rhetoric toward China borders on envy, as he cites the economic leaps China\u2019s leaders have made in manufacturing for wind and solar energy production, government investments in research and development, and infrastructure growth.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>So far, Biden\u2019s presidency has been good for China.<\/p>\n<p>The trade deficit with China <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/02\/08\/bidens-first-year-sees-biggest-ever-trade-deficit\/\">jumped<\/a> 14.5 percent to $355.3 billion in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The president likes to point out that he and Xi have a close relationship he developed when he was vice president, frequently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/speeches-remarks\/2021\/11\/16\/remarks-by-president-biden-on-the-bipartisan-infrastructure-law\/\">boasting<\/a> he has met with Xi \u201cmore than any other world leader.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_12883187\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Biden-Toasts-Xi.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-12883187\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Biden-Toasts-Xi.jpg\" alt=\"US Vice President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping toast during a State Luncheon for China hosted by US Secretary of State John Kerry on September 25, 2015 at the Department of State in Washington, DC. RICHARDS\/AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Biden and his family also have a history of benefiting financially from cozy ties with the Chinese, as outlined by Breitbart News senior contributor Peter Schweizer in his book&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Red-Handed-American-Elites-Helping-China\/dp\/0063061147\"><em>Red-Handed: How American Elites Get Rich Helping China Win<\/em><\/a>: five deals in China with a value of approximately $31 million arranged by individuals with direct ties to Chinese intelligence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/peter-schweizer-red-handed-5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19465914\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/peter-schweizer-red-handed-5.jpg\" alt=\"Schweizer\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Biden began his presidency with soft rhetoric about China, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/clips\/2021\/02\/17\/biden-chinas-xi-jinping-gets-it-american-presidents-must-speak-up-for-human-rights\/\">demonstrated<\/a> during a CNN town hall in February.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about human rights abuses against Uyghur Muslims in China, he said that Xi \u201cgets it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[C]ulturally there are different norms in each country, and their leaders are expected to follow,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/clips\/2021\/02\/17\/biden-chinas-xi-jinping-gets-it-american-presidents-must-speak-up-for-human-rights\">explained<\/a> that Xi\u2019s policies were in pursuit of a united China.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s vastly overstated, but the center of principle of Xi Jinping is that there must be a united, tightly controlled China. And he uses his rationale for the things he does based on that,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>After he was criticized, Biden\u2019s rhetoric regarding human rights in China became tougher, but his policies toward China have not.<\/p>\n<p>Biden took a few small actions in 2021 to protest China\u2019s aggression in the region.<\/p>\n<p>In June he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/06\/03\/biden-prohibits-us-investment-in-59-chinese-companies.html\">added<\/a> to a list of Chinese companies prohibiting American investments.&nbsp;Biden also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/asia-pacific\/us-sanctions-seven-chinese-individuals-over-hong-kong-crackdown-2021-07-16\/\">expanded<\/a> a list of Chinese officials under sanctions in 2021 in response to China\u2019s cracking down on democracy in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p>Biden has also left in place the Trump-era tariffs on goods imported from China, despite lobbying from business groups to lift them. Lifting the tariffs on China would be political suicide in an election year, as they are politically popular among his union and working class supporters.<\/p>\n<p>But overall, the president does not appear willing to make any major changes concerning China.<\/p>\n<p>Schweizer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/06\/03\/biden-prohibits-us-investment-in-59-chinese-companies.html\">explained<\/a> in a recent interview that the Chinese are fine with Biden\u2019s rhetoric, as long as China has access to American markets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Joe Biden is making statements about the Uyghurs occasionally, they\u2019re fine with that. What he\u2019s doing is giving them what they want, which is basically unfettered access to our capital markets and unfettered access to our technology.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans continue criticizing Biden for his failures on China, accusing him broadly of failing on issues of foreign policy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBiden blunders from one crisis to the next \u2013 Hamas, Iran, China, the border, Afghanistan, Ukraine \u2013 all while refusing to take any responsibility,\u201d&nbsp;Republican National Committee Rapid Response Director Tommy Pigott said in a statement.\u201d&nbsp;Joe Biden described himself as an \u2018expert\u2019 in foreign policy.
