\/><\/div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">LONDON (AP) \u2013 Millions of Britons were urged to cancel travel plans and stay indoors Friday amid fears of high winds and flying debris as the second major storm this week prompted a rare \u201cred\u201d weather warning across southern England.<\/p>\n<p>Storm Eunice is likely to cause significant disruption and dangerous conditions, with gusts that may exceed 90 miles per hour in highly exposed coastal areas, the U.K.\u2019s weather forecasting office said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The Met Office issued \u201cred\u201d warnings \u2013 indicating a danger to life \u2013 for parts of southwest England between 7 a.m. and noon and for southeast England and London from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>A lower level amber warning for gusts up to 80 mph covers the whole of England from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the impacts from Storm Dudley for many on Wednesday, Storm Eunice will bring damaging gusts in what could be one of the most impactful storms to affect southern and central parts of the U.K. for a few years,\u201d Met Office chief meteorologist Paul Gundersen said. \u201cThe red warning areas indicate a significant danger to life as extremely strong winds provide the potential for damage to structures and flying debris.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p will help <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Eunice?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Eunice<\/a> to rapidly strengthen during the next 12-24 hours as it crosses the UK <a emergency committee meeting to discuss the storm later Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The Environment Agency has issued 10 severe flood warnings, another indicator of life-threatening weather conditions.<\/p>\n<p>A number of tourist attractions in England, including the London Eye, Legoland and Warwick Castle are temporarily closing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI urge all Londoners to stay at home, do not take risks, and do not travel unless it is absolutely essential,\u00b4\u00b4 Mayor Sadiq Khan said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Train operators across Britain also urged passengers to avoid traveling on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>British Airways warned of delays at London\u00b4s Heathrow Airport because the wind has reduced the rate at which aircraft are permitted to land.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHigh winds and poor weather may cause last-minute delays, but we will do everything in our power to minimize any disruption that results,\u201d the airline said.<\/p>\n<p>The government highway agency said high-sided vehicles and other \u201cvulnerable\u201d vehicles such as caravans and motorbikes could be blown over so should avoid bridges and viaducts.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone traveling should \u201cplan your trip and take extra care, allowing more time for your journey,\u201d said Jeremy Phillips, head of road safety for the National Highways agency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the event of persistent high winds, we may need to close bridges to traffic for a period, so please be alert for warnings of closures and follow signed diversion routes,\u201d he
