The older age of new Chinese couples in 2021 spells trouble for China\u2019s already dire birth rate, as women\u2019s fertility rates begin to decrease by age 30.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA woman\u2019s peak reproductive years are between the late teens and late 20s. By age 30, fertility (the ability to get pregnant) starts to decline. This decline becomes more rapid once you reach your mid-30s. By 45, fertility has declined so much that getting pregnant naturally is unlikely for most women,\u201d the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acog.org\/womens-health\/faqs\/having-a-baby-after-age-35-how-aging-affects-fertility-and-pregnancy#:~:text=A%20woman&#039;s%20peak%20reproductive%20years,is%20unlikely%20for%20most%20women.\">writes<\/a> on its website.<\/p>\n<p>China <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/national-security\/2022\/01\/17\/china-records-lowest-birth-rate-in-modern-history-in-2021\/\">recorded<\/a> its lowest birth rate in modern history in 2021, prompting fears that the country\u2019s population \u2014 currently the largest in the world at 1.4 billion \u2014 might be on the decline.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe 2021 rate of 7.52 births per 1,000 people was the lowest since 1949, when the [Chinese] National Statistics Bureau began collating the data,\u201d Reuters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/china\/birth-rate-mainland-china-2021-drops-record-low-2022-01-17\/\">reported<\/a> on January 17.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe natural growth rate of China\u2019s population, which excludes migration, was only 0.034% for 2021, the lowest since 1960,\u201d the news agency reported, citing Chinese government data.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19929458\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/02\/GettyImages-1238362541.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-19929458\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/GettyImages-1238362541-1024x683-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"990\" height=\"660\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Single people participating in a matchmaking event in Jinan in eastern China\u2019s Shandong province as concerns loom over the nation\u2019s falling birth and marriage rates (NOEL CELIS\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Based on China\u2019s record-low birth rate for 2021, demographers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.science.org\/content\/article\/china-s-population-may-start-shrink-year-new-birth-data-suggest\">estimated<\/a> China\u2019s fertility rate for 2021 was \u201cabout 1.15, well below the replacement rate of 2.1 and one of the lowest in the world,\u201d the academic journal <em>Science<\/em>&nbsp;observed on January 18.<\/p>\n<p>The latest available data from China\u2019s government showed the country had a fertility rate of 1.3 per woman in 2020. A fertility rate is the&nbsp;average number of children women may expect to have during their reproductive years.<\/p>\n<p>The Chinese Communist Party is largely responsible for China\u2019s current population woes, as it has imposed restrictions on the number of children each married couple in the country may have over the past four decades. The Party forced Chinese families to observe a strict \u201cone-child policy\u201d from about 1980 until 2015. Beijing launched the measure in an effort to curb China\u2019s previously booming citizen pool but the policy ultimately backfired, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/asia\/2022\/02\/13\/china-to-actively-ban-teen-abortions-as-birth-rate-collapses\/\">causing<\/a> modern China to suffer from a severely warped and shrinking population.
