Tom Malinowski (D-NJ) is tied&nbsp;with potential Republican challenger Tom Kean, Jr., in a hypothetical matchup,&nbsp;according to the poll taken by&nbsp;Greenberg Quinlan Rosner (GQR) Research on behalf of the Democrat\u2019s campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The hypothetical <a href=\"https:\/\/malinowskifornj.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/NJ-07-Public-Memo-2.7.22.docx.pdf\">poll<\/a> put on by the congressman\u2019s campaign showed he is in a bad position in an election year. Both candidates garnered 46 percent of the vote, with eight percent undecided. The polling firm noted that the district&nbsp;leans Republican; however,&nbsp;Malinowski is still an incumbent.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Regarding name recognition and favorability, both candidates were equally tied.&nbsp;Malinowski was recognized by 67 percent of the respondents but only had a&nbsp;28 percent favorable and with&nbsp;25 percent saying unfavorable.<\/p>\n<p>Kean was&nbsp;recognized by&nbsp;64 percent of the respondents but also had low favorability. The poll showed he only had a&nbsp;22 percent favorable and 24 percent unfavorable.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19919962\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/AP21032761440691.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19919962\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/AP21032761440691.jpg\" alt=\"January 15, 2019, file photo, New Jersey Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean Jr. (AP Photo\/Julio Cortez, File)\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>January 15, 2019, file photo, New Jersey then-Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean Jr. (AP Photo\/Julio Cortez)<\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>GQR acknowledged that after the once-in-a-decade redistricting process finished,&nbsp;Malinowski\u2019s district is one of the&nbsp;17 districts in the country where the voting margin between former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden is less than five percent.<\/p>\n<p>Biden only won the district by four points, and party registration favors the Republicans by three points:&nbsp;36 percent Republican, 33 percent Democratic, 31 percent unaffiliated.<\/p>\n<p>The survey questions were <a href=\"https:\/\/malinowskifornj.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/NJ-07-Public-Memo-2.7.22.docx.pdf\">asked<\/a> to&nbsp;600 likely voters in New Jersey\u2019s Seventh Congressional District from January 19 to 27. The margin of error is plus or minus four percent with a&nbsp;95 percent confidence interval.<\/p>\n<p>While&nbsp;Malinowski is headed for a tough election, last year was also challenging. The Democrat is&nbsp;under investigation by the&nbsp;House Ethics Committee for&nbsp;reportedly not adequately disclosing stock transactions, resulting in a possible STOCK Act violation.<\/p>\n<p>The&nbsp;House&nbsp;committee has not yet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/09\/18\/11-democrats-have-allegedly-violated-the-stock-act-of-2012\/\">determined<\/a> if the congressman has&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/09\/07\/house-ethics-committee-will-investigate-democrat-tom-malinowskis-stock-trades\/\">committed&nbsp;<\/a>any wrongdoings, and his office has disputed any claims. He has allegedly violated the STOCK Act <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/10\/22\/democrat-tom-malinowski-allegedly-has-a-fourth-stock-act-violation\/\">four times.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Under the STOCK Act,&nbsp;he is required to submit a&nbsp;periodic transaction report with the clerk in the House of Representatives within 30 to 45 days after the member or their spouse makes a transaction over&nbsp;$1,000.<\/p>\n<p><i>Jacob Bliss is a reporter for Breitbart News.
