Instead, teachers will have the discretion to show students videos \u201cfrom all sources, including videos pertaining to patriotic holidays,\u201d a representative from the district said.<\/p>\n<p>The Norwin School Board in southwest Pennsylvania voted 5-4 on Monday to do away with daily broadcasts of CNN 10, the <em>Norwin Star<\/em>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/triblive.com\/local\/westmoreland\/norwin-board-pulls-plug-on-cnn-10\/\">reports<\/a>. CNN <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/02\/14\/cnn10\/ten-content-tues\/index.html#:~:text=CNN%2010%20serves%20a%20growing,go%20or%20in%20the%20classroom.\">calls<\/a> the program \u201ccompact on-demand news broadcasts ideal for explanation seekers on the go or in the classroom.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The school board agreed to give teachers the discretion \u201cto use the television to show the special videos, after an initial resolution sought to eliminate the watching of any television during the homeroom period before classes begin for the day,\u201d according to the <em>Norwin Star<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>A representative from the Norwin School District <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/pennsylvania-school-district-removes-mandatory-cnn-10-classrooms-patriotic-videos\">told<\/a> Fox News the board voted to<span>&nbsp;\u201cremove watching TV during homeroom at the Middle School unless it is either student, teacher or administrator driven to allow students to socialize and interact with each other.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span> \u201cIt was further clarified that the board will allow&nbsp;teachers&nbsp;to use discretion and broadcast&nbsp;videos from all sources, including videos pertaining to patriotic holidays,\u201d the representative added.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">CNN\u2019s ratings sinking like a stone. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/WySz4DbcJK\">https:\/\/t.co\/WySz4DbcJK<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1401169460732514304?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 5, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Such patriotic videos entail programs regarding Veterans Day and the December 7, 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, the <em>Norwin Star<\/em> notes.<\/p>\n<p><span>In 2019, CNN 10 was selected to replace daily news programming from Channel One in the school district.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The <em>Norwin Star<\/em> reports that a social studies teacher at the middle school \u201csaid CNN 10 supports the school district\u2019s mission statement of civic engagement by the students.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span>One mother, Ashley Egan of North Huntingdon, expressed her concerns about the daily broadcast of a CNN product in homeroom, saying that it was \u201c<\/span><span>feeding (her son) him every day that CNN is a label you can trust,\u201d according to the outlet.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19919346\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2022\/02\/GettyImages-1193148873.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-19919346\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/GettyImages-1193148873-1024x683-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"990\" height=\"660\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Top 10 CNN Hero Woody Faircloth speaks onstage during CNN Heroes at American Museum of Natural History on December 08, 2019 in New York City.
