The FAA administrator, who was appointed in 2019 by former President Donald Trump, told his staff he will leave his post to \u201cdevote [his] full time and attention\u201d to his family, the outlet reported.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">FAA Administrator Steve Dickson resigns, will leave at the end of March <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/HYmlLDF9jO\">https:\/\/t.co\/HYmlLDF9jO<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 CBS News (@CBSNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/CBSNews\/status\/1494159671753592832?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 17, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cAlthough my heart is heavy, I am tremendously proud of everything we have accomplished together over the past several years,\u201d Dickson wrote, according to CBS News. \u201cThe agency is in a better place than it was two years ago, and we are positioned for great success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He told FAA employees it was the \u201cprivilege of a lifetime to serve alongside\u201d them and that after 43 years in the aviation industry, it was \u201ctime to go home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past several years, my family has been a source of tremendous encouragement, strength, and support,\u201d Dickson also said in the announcement, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/transportation\/2022\/02\/16\/faa-steve-dickson-resignation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">according<\/a> to the Washington Post. \u201cNevertheless, after sometimes long and unavoidable periods of separation from my loved ones during the pandemic, it is time to devote my full time and attention to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In response to the FAA administrator\u2019s resignation, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg told CBS News that Dickson was the FAA\u2019s \u201csteady and skilled captain.\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2022\/01\/19\/joe-biden-5g-fcc-faa-verizon-att\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED:&nbsp;\u2018Failure Of Leadership\u2019: Biden Administration Slammed Over 5G Rollout Debacle)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful for his years of service to our country and his lifelong dedication to making sure our aviation system is the best and safest in the world,\u201d Buttigieg reportedly said to the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>Republican Missouri Rep. Sam Graves, the ranking member on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, released a <a href=\"https:\/\/republicans-transportation.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=405788\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a> acknowledging Dickson\u2019s \u201coutstanding leadership and steady hand at the FAA.\u201d Graves said Dickson \u201cnever compromised on safety\u201d while leading during \u201ca difficult time for the agency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSteve stepped up and led the FAA with confidence and strength, working to restore public confidence in our aviation system while implementing important bipartisan improvements to the aircraft certification process,\u201d wrote Graves.&nbsp;\u201cI appreciate his dedication to public service and his laudable efforts on behalf of the entire aviation community, the traveling public, and the American people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wish him and his family well,\u201d Graves added.<\/p>\n<p>Dickson\u2019s upcoming departure leaves yet another opening the Biden administration must fill with a nominee with Senate approval.
