(Photo by SAUL LOEB \/ AFP) (Photo credit should read SAUL LOEB\/AFP via Getty Images)\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) (SAUL LOEB\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The ad showed two clips of Jeffries saying, \u201cMiddle-class Americans are struggling to find affordable housing,\u201d and \u201cWe have to make sure the wealthy and well-connected pay their fair share.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, the narrator asserted that Jeffries saved roughly $12,000 in property tax while the Democrats pushed for higher taxes on Americans.&nbsp;A&nbsp;news anchor is also shown in the ad detailing the report that exposed that Jeffries only paid a couple hundred dollars in property tax instead of thousands.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>New York Post<\/em> first reported last month that the congressman lives in a \u201cheavily subsidized\u201d condo. The report noted that he only pays \u201c$213 a year in property taxes thanks to a sweetheart deal under a law he supported when he served in the state Assembly.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p><em>New York Post<\/em>\u2018s coverage of what the law Jeffries cosponsored and voted for does stated:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The law provides developers and residents property tax breaks over 25 or 35 years in exchange for making at least 20 percent of the apartments \u201caffordable\u201d for moderate- to low-income residents.<\/p>\n<p>The generous subsidy program costs the city treasury up to $1.6 billion a year in property tax revenues, according to the comptroller\u2019s office. The median property tax for city homeowners is more than $5,000.<\/p>\n<p>\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The Jeffries\u2019 quarterly property tax bill due in April is only $52.69, the site shows. His three prior quarterly bills were $52.69, $52.97 and $52.97.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe well-connected and powerful elites like Congressman Hakeem Jeffries get to live by a different set of rules than working class people in this country,\u201d AAN Communications Director Calvin Moore said. \u201cJeffries is all-too-happy to raise your taxes, just so long as he takes care of himself with a sweetheart deal that lets him pay 28 times less than the average New Yorker.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After the report of&nbsp;Jeffries\u2019&nbsp;sweetheart tax deal came out, the congressman claimed that his family had been \u201ctargeted with threats of violence\u201d while invoking the January 6 incident.&nbsp;Andy Eichar, a spokesperson for Jeffries,&nbsp;<a class=\"editor-rtfLink x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/01\/23\/rep-hakeem-jeffries-pays-200-in-property-taxes-thanks-to-sweetheart-subsidy-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">said:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Rep. Hakeem Jeffries and his family have been specifically targeted with threats of violence on January 6th and thereafter. The effort to single out his home with phony outrage over a tax abatement his and 30,000 properties in Brooklyn have qualified for since their construction is reckless, irresponsible and may ultimately put his family at risk.
