Jackson Women\u2019s Health Organization.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.azleg.gov\/legtext\/55leg\/2R\/summary\/S.1164JUD.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Senate Bill 1164<\/a>, sponsored by Republican state Sen. Nancy Barto, passed 16-13 along party lines. The bill now moves to the state\u2019s House of Representatives.<\/p>\n<p>The state House, also Republican-led, is likely to approve the bill, with Republican Gov. Doug Ducey expected to sign it into law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe state has an obligation to protect life, and that is what this bill is about,\u201d Barto <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/gop-controlled-arizona-senate-passes-15-week-abortion-ban-rcna16432?cid=sm_npd_nn_tw_ma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> during the session. \u201cA 15-week-old baby in the womb has a fully formed nose, lips, eyelids, they suck their thumbs. They feel pain. That\u2019s what this bill is about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Barto added, \u201cI believe our constitution stands clearly for life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and the first part of that is life.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Arizona Senate Passes Bill to Ban Abortions After 15 Weeks, Saving Hundreds of Babies <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/CWWypBR6Gh\">https:\/\/t.co\/CWWypBR6Gh<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/HyJVa2IF52\">pic.twitter.com\/HyJVa2IF52<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 LifeNews.com (@LifeNewsHQ) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LifeNewsHQ\/status\/1494089219186249730?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 16, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Arizona doctors who perform the procedure after 15 weeks could be prosecuted for a Class 6 felony, facing revocation or suspension of their medical licenses.<\/p>\n<p>Qualified medical emergencies are exempted, including situations that complicate \u201cthe medical condition of a pregnant woman as to necessitate the immediate abortion of her pregnancy to avert her death or for which a delay will create serious risk of substantial and irreversible impairment of a major bodily function.\u201d The bill does not specifically exclude cases of rape or incest.<\/p>\n<p>Abortion provider Planned Parenthood was not pleased with the Senate\u2019s passing of the bill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArizona politicians are banking on the&nbsp;Supreme Court upholding Mississippi\u2019s 15-week abortion ban so they can quickly strip Arizonians of their rights and begin enforcement,\u201d CEO of Planned Parenthood Arizona Brittany Fonteno said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/about-us\/newsroom\/press-releases\/breaking-arizona-senate-passes-15-week-abortion-ban\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Bills similar to the one in Mississippi have been introduced in several states in the past year, including Texas, which introduced a more stringent ban also involved in a Supreme Court case.<\/p>\n<p>The Florida House of Representatives also voted on Wednesday to move forward on a bill that would ban abortions after 15 weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bill was approved by the state legislative body by a 78-39 vote, which was split on party lines. It will now head to the state Senate, which is expected to pass the bill soon,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/state-watch\/594669-florida-lawmakers-advance-15-week-abortion-ban\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a> reported.&nbsp;Florida Republican Gov. <span class=\"rollover-people\" data-behavior=\"rolloverpeople\">Ron DeSantis<\/span> has expressed support in signing the bill once passed.<\/p>\n<p>West Virginia\u2019s House of Delegates also passed a 15-week abortion ban on Tuesday. The House also passed a related bill that would ban in-state sale of fetal body parts from abortions in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it was up to me, we would ban it outright,\u201d West Virginia Republican Del. Adam Burkhammer <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/us-supreme-court-health-mississippi-legislature-west-virginia-c5b58ea6289e08200241a93db6bb3581\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> on the House floor in support of the bill, according to the Associated Press. \u201cBut that\u2019s not the bill before us \u2014 we\u2019re taking steps in a positive direction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire\u2019s first original film, Shut In, has made its cinematic debut, being met with rave reviews.
