I think it\u2019s the different evaluation of what\u2019s right for a particular community,\u201d Fauci <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-10518037\/Fauci-claims-blue-states-easing-COVID-mandates-politics.html\">said<\/a> during a Monday appearance on MSNBC, discussing the wave of blue state leaders who have suddenly had what Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) described as an \u201cepiphany\u201d and began to announce the end of mask mandates across the states and in schools.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">\u201cWhen you use the word politics, I\u2019m not sure it\u2019s that. I just think at the local level, there\u2019s a strong feeling of needing to get back to normality,\u201d Fauci said before pointing to the \u201cscience of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">\u201cNow, if you look at the science of it, I mean the direction is going in the right direction. Are we there yet in every single place throughout the country? I don\u2019t believe so. But there are some places that are looking at what the trajectory is, and are saying let\u2019s go with it,\u201d the White House medical adviser added, insisting blue state leaders are \u201ctrying to get&nbsp;back to some form of normality by&nbsp;pulling back on restrictions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\">Over the course of the past week, several blue state leaders, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/10\/illinois-gov-j-b-pritzker-lifting-states-indoor-mask-mandate-february-28\/\">Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/news\/governor-ending-new-jerseys-school-mask-mandate\/\">New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D)<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/07\/delaware-gov-john-carney-announces-end-indoor-mask-mandate\/\">Delaware Gov. John Carney (D)<\/a> announced plans to pull back on certain mask restrictions. But conservative critics have pointed out the timing is of interest.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe science has not changed one iota. We knew from the beginning, and that\u2019s why Florida never imposed a forced masking policy on school children, and that\u2019s why we fought to liberate the kids from the forced masking that was done on the local level because there was never a justification for it,\u201d DeSantis&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovRonDeSantis\/status\/1491144498163900422?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1491144498163900422%7Ctwgr%5E%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com%2Fpolitics%2F2022%2F02%2F09%2Fdesantis-rips-blue-state-governors-science-didnt-change-the-political-science-changed%2F\">said<\/a> during a press conference last week.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo when you start to see them kind of reevaluate or say all this, just understand this. The science didn\u2019t change. The medical science didn\u2019t change. The political science changed. They feel the heat. They know that voters have been tired of perpetual lockdown policies,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey know that they have basically offered no offramp and they know that they\u2019re fixing to be whooped at the polls, so that\u2019s causing the epiphany,\u201d he added:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The medical science on forced masking children didn\u2019t change \u2014 the political science did. Tom Cotton (R-AR) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/09\/tom-cotton-blasts-democrat-hypocrisy-on-masks-the-science-hasnt-changed-theres-an-election-coming\/\">made<\/a> a similar observation during a Senate floor speech last week, explaining that Democrats are only now making these moves because they are nervous ahead of the midterm election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSometimes I hear the phrase, the science changed. The science hasn\u2019t changed. What\u2019s changed is that there\u2019s an election coming, and Democrats have seen the polling on this question,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNow they are running scared and they want to pretend that they didn\u2019t force your kid to wear a mask for two years. You see it in states that are run entirely by Democrats \u2014 California, New Jersey, New York.
