Sussman is also suspected of having a conflict of interest involving&nbsp;Latham &amp; Watkins LLP, which is also mixed up in Durham\u2019s investigation.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">President Trump was right.<\/p>\n<p>The Democrats were SPYING on him. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ZurV5WmVxt\">pic.twitter.com\/ZurV5WmVxt<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 RNC Research (@RNCResearch) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RNCResearch\/status\/1493970322651070468?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 16, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWhite House communications are supposed to be secure, and the notion that any contractor\u2014much less one with ties to a presidential campaign\u2014could access them is alarming enough,\u201d the <em>Journal<\/em> wrote. \u201cThe implication that the data was exploited for a political purpose is a scandal that requires investigation under oath\u201d:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The disclosures raise troubling questions far beyond the Sussmann indictment. How long did this snooping last and who had access to what was found? Who approved the access to White House data, and who at the FBI and White House knew about it? Were Mrs. Clinton and senior campaign aides personally aware of this data-trolling operation?<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Durham\u2019s revelations take the 2016 collusion scam well beyond the Steele dossier, which was based on the unvetted claims of a Russian emigre working in Washington. Those claims and the Sussmann assertions were channeled to the highest levels of the government via contacts at the FBI, CIA and State Department. They became fodder for secret and unjustified warrants against a former Trump campaign official, and later for Robert Mueller\u2019s two-year mole hunt that turned up no evidence of collusion.<\/p>\n<p>Along the way the Clinton campaign fed these bogus claims to a willing and gullible media. And now we know its operatives used private tech researchers to monitor White House communications. If you made this up, you\u2019d be laughed out of a Netflix story pitch.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cBut the unfolding information underscores that the Russia collusion story was one of the dirtiest tricks in U.S. political history,\u201d the <em>Journal<\/em> continued, while noting \u201cit remains unclear\u201d where Durham\u2019s probe is going next.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Journal\u2019s<\/em> editorial decision to express an opinion about Durham\u2019s revelations follows&nbsp;the&nbsp;<em>New York Times<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>Washington Post<\/em>, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/15\/establishment-media-knock-durham-filings-that-alleged-clinton-associates-spied-on-trump\/\">cast doubt<\/a> on the court filing\u2019s significance 48 hours after the story broke Friday night.&nbsp;The <em>Times<\/em> and <em>Post<\/em> framed its articles around&nbsp;chiding&nbsp;\u201cright-leaning media\u201d for \u201ccarefully\u201d scrutinizing&nbsp;\u201coff track\u201d narratives that are \u201coften based on a misleading presentation of the facts or outright misinformation.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Are you surprised? <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/QCEqJxDG8U\">pic.twitter.com\/QCEqJxDG8U<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 RNC Research (@RNCResearch) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RNCResearch\/status\/1493615259151749123?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 15, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The <em>Journal<\/em> hit back at the establishment media\u2019s press corps on Tuesday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/a-strange-defense-of-spying-on-donald-trump-rodney-joffe-russia-clinton-john-durham-11644965327?mod=opinion_lead_pos3\">asserting<\/a> their reporting on Clinton\u2019s political hoax is notably oblivious to the allegations that may prove Trump\u2019s assertion true:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The press corps doesn\u2019t usually support government spying, but when it comes to Donald Trump they are making an exception. The journalists who gave themselves prizes for pressing the Russia collusion narrative that turned out be false are now dismissing&nbsp;news&nbsp;that their narrative was inflated with false information collected by eavesdropping on Mr. Trump.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The establishment media\u2019s reporting on the scandal proceeds undeveloped implications, such as the extent to which President Biden\u2019s national security adviser Jake Sullivan may be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/15\/jake-sullivans-role-in-pushing-russia-collusion-hoax-questioned-after-durham-filing\/\">implicated<\/a>. Breitbart News reported:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>On October 31, 2016, about a week before the 2016 presidential election, Sullivan, who was working on the Clinton campaign at the time, pushed a Slate report \u201cshowing that the Trump Organization has a secret server registered to Trump Tower that has been covertly communicating with Russia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Sullivan\u2019s role in pushing these claims is receiving fresh scrutiny after a recent filing by Special Counsel John Durham&nbsp;laid out allegations that a lawyer who was with the law firm representing Clinton\u2019s campaign had worked with a tech executive to gather the evidence for those claims.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In a Monday press briefing, the White House declined comment about the recent court filings.
