But the son of two famous people claims that not everything about his childhood was great.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Chet revealed some of the darker aspects of being the son of two celebrities (Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson) during a recent YouTube <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GQvxJA7p2_Q\"><span>video<\/span><\/a><span> called, \u201cThe Truth About Growing Up As A Hanks.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>While Chet said he\u2019s \u201cblessed\u201d to be part of a family he loves, the experience of growing up with very famous parents was a \u201cdouble-edged sword.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of advantages but sometimes it can be pretty weird,\u201d Chet said in the YouTube video. \u201cI got to do a lot of cool s*** that a lot of people don\u2019t get the opportunity to do. I got to travel the world, stay in nice hotels, fly on private planes and I\u2019m very blessed for that. I wouldn\u2019t change my situation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The \u201cEmpire\u201d alum explained that many of his peers were jealous, which led to some tricky situations. It didn\u2019t help that people\u2019s perceptions were shaped by who his parents were and nothing he could control.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cMy experience was even more complicated because on top of fame already being toxic, I wasn\u2019t even famous,\u201d Chet continued. \u201cI was just the son of somebody famous so I hadn\u2019t even done anything to deserve any sort of recognition and that created a lot of contempt.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The actor said how this negativity pervaded throughout his schooling career, but really came to a head during his high school years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cPeople would make up their minds about me before they even got the chance to know me and it was extremely hard to break down their walls,\u201d the \u201cYour Honor\u201d alum said. He also explained how it gave him a \u201cchip\u201d on his shoulder and a \u201chard exterior.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Chet said, \u201cPeople kinda did f*** with me a lot growing up. It was never to my face. It was always behind my back in the forms of gossip or s*** talking.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Now Chet says he\u2019s in a much better place. He concludes in the video that \u201cpeople\u2019s perception of you is only a reflection of themselves.\u201d The father of one also claims to have \u201cchanged\u201d his \u201clife\u201d and is no longer on the \u201cself-destructive\u201d path of \u201canger\u201d and \u201cpartying.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The son of Tom Hanks came under fire last summer for outspoken vaccine hesitancy. After giving a long video speech talking about how he got the vaccine and thinks it\u2019s important for everyone to do, Chet quickly changed course, E News <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1298298\/tom-hanks-and-rita-wilsons-son-chet-hanks-faces-backlash-for-covid-19-vaccine-comments\"><span>reported<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cPSYCH, b***! If it ain\u2019t broke, don\u2019t fix it. I never had COVID. Ya ain\u2019t sticking me with that motherf***ing needle,\u201d the actor said in the video.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>He then said he believed COVID-19 is \u201cthe motherf***ing flu,\u201d and continued, \u201cGet over it, OK? If you\u2019re sick, stay inside. OK, why we working around y\u2019all? If you\u2019re in danger, stay your ass inside.
