\/><\/div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">French Presidential candidate&nbsp;\u00c9ric Zemmour has announced that he had a \u201cwarm\u201d conversation with former U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday evening, where they discussed political strategy alongside a variety of topics.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c9ric Zemmour who is representing the political party Reconqu\u00eate (reconquest) in the French Presidential elections has boasted to the press of having a \u201clong\u201d conversation with Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Zemmour, 63, claimed that Trump, 75, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bfmtv.com\/politique\/il-m-a-dit-de-rester-moi-meme-eric-zemmour-evoque-son-echange-par-telephone-avec-donald-trump_VN-202202150188.html\">him<\/a>&nbsp;that if he wishes to win the election then he should \u201cnever change\u201d his political viewpoints or \u201cgive in\u201d to the media and other pressures, as well as ensure he be himself and not put on a political act, BMTV <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bfmtv.com\/politique\/elections\/presidentielle\/presidentielle-comment-eric-zemmour-s-inspire-de-la-strategie-de-donald-trump_AN-202202150293.html\">reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Trump also apparently warned Zemmour that the media was going to turn on him as they had done to Trump throughout his Presidency \u2013 Zemmour is already referred to as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/europe\/trump-offered-encouragement-frances-far-right-candidate-zemmour-call-bfm-tv-2022-02-15\/\">far-right<\/a>\u201d in a range of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/world\/americas\/us-politics\/trump-eric-zemmour-france-far-right-b2015482.html\">press<\/a> outlets.<\/p>\n<p>As a long-standing supporter of Trump, Zemmour <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/americas\/20220215-hang-in-there-french-far-right-candidate-zemmour-touts-encouragement-from-trump\">reportedly<\/a> modelled his own outsider campaign on Trump\u2019s 2016 Presidential bid, even creating similar policies such as calling for Europe to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/01\/23\/donald-trump-build-wall-crime-fall\/\">build a wall<\/a>&nbsp;at \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/then24.com\/2022\/02\/10\/presidential-zemmour-pleads-for-the-construction-of-a-wall-at-the-borders-of-the-eu\/\">all the external borders<\/a>\u201d of the European Union.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The controversial Presidential candidate additionally claims in a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ZemmourEric\/status\/1493516178718928898\">statement<\/a> released on his social media that during his phone call with Trump, they discussed a range of topics including \u201cmigration, security and economic issues\u201d in both France and the United States, as well as Trump\u2019s 2016 victory strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Zemmour asserted that \u201cDonald Trump wants the United States to remain the United States\u201d and \u201c\u00c9ric Zemmour wants France to remain France\u201d, a likely reference to the strong viewpoints both individuals hold in regards to immigration.<\/p>\n<p>The French Presidential candidate\u2019s statement also claims that Trump praised Zemmour\u2019s campaign and said it was characterised by, \u201cauthenticity, sincerity and courage\u201d, however, Trump has not officially endorsed any candidate for the French Presidency.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for former President Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.eu\/article\/donald-trump-france-election-eric-zemmour-phone-call\/\">confirmed<\/a> that the meeting took place, but has declined to share any details of the adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Rival right-wing candidate&nbsp;Marine Le Pen has attempted to play down the significance of Trump\u2019s call to Zemour <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/election-presidentielle-2022\/live\/2022\/02\/15\/eric-zemmour-dit-avoir-eu-un-entretien-chaleureux-avec-donald-trump-suivez-la-campagne-presidentielle-en-direct_6113726_6059010.html\">suggesting<\/a> that while she hoped Trump \u201cis doing well\u201d, she believes he \u201cno longer represents an active political force\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had wanted to meet him before he was president, it was more interesting than meeting him afterwards, to be honest\u201d, Le Pen also said.<\/p>\n<p>Le Pen has previously tried to meet with the billionaire turned U.S. President and even flew out to Trump Towers in 2017 in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lemonde.fr\/politique\/article\/2017\/01\/12\/marine-le-pen-se-rend-a-la-trump-tower-mais-sans-rencontrer-le-proprietaire-des-lieux_5061876_823448.html\">reported<\/a> effort to meet him, but was ultimately unsuccessful in securing a meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The electoral competition between Le Pen and Zemmour has recently become heated as Zemmour has become an increased threat to the&nbsp;Resemblant National leader \u2013 with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.france24.com\/en\/tv-shows\/in-the-press\/20220124-several-allies-of-french-far-right-candidate-le-pen-defect-to-zemmour-campaign\">several<\/a> of Le Pen\u2019s allies defecting to Zemmour,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/europe\/frances-le-pen-suffers-high-profile-defection-rival-zemmour-2022-02-13\/\">including<\/a> on Sunday, Senator Stephane Ravier, who was Le Pen\u2019s only Senator.<\/p>\n<p>In the latest French Presidential <a href=\"https:\/\/europeelects.eu\/france\/\">poll<\/a> taken by Europe Elects on the 10th of February 2022, it forecasts that incumbent President Emmanuel Macron is still the popular candidate to win with 24.4% of the vote, Le Pen is ranked just 7.5% behind at 16.9%, and Zemmour comes in at 14.6%.<\/p>\n<p>France\u2019s President is directly elected by the French people, but if no candidate receives over 50% of the vote, the French people are asked to vote again, but only between the two candidates who received the most votes in the first round.
