headline since taken down <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/1ZyKT9c7jl\">pic.twitter.com\/1ZyKT9c7jl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Liz Peek (@lizpeek) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/lizpeek\/status\/844649417982574592?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 22, 2017<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Nevertheless, subsequent evidence has confirmed that the Trump campaign was indeed under surveillance; and now, it is alleged that the surveillance continued into the presidency itself, creating a scenario that is \u201cworse than Watergate.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Already, in September 2017, CNN had to admit that former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort had been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/the-media\/2017\/09\/18\/wiretapped-cnn-admits-trump-campaign-breitbart-news-right-mainstream-media-wrong\/\">wiretapped<\/a> during the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018, it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2018\/05\/23\/spygate-more-vindication-for-breitbart-mark-levin-donald-trump\/\">emerged<\/a> that Trump campaign aide Carter Page had been under FBI surveillance.<\/p>\n<p>Page was targeted partly due to the so-called \u201cRussia dossier,\u201d a fraudulent Clinton-funded opposition research document that the FBI continued to use as the basis for applying to a judge for warrants even after it knew the dossier was false.<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/national-security\/2020\/05\/08\/pollak-7-bombshells-in-the-michael-flynn-case\/\">emerged<\/a> that the FBI had taken extraordinary measures to target National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, including using a meeting with him at the White House to probe for information that could be used to target Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Now, the establishment media is belatedly reporting the Durham filing, which appeared during the prosecution of former Clinton lawyer Michael Sussmann. But the media coverage is focusing on attempting to debunk conservative \u201cnarratives.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Everyone screaming &#8220;DURHAM PROBE&#8221; should stop and read this<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/zBncsWastk\">https:\/\/t.co\/zBncsWastk<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Chris Cillizza (@ChrisCillizza) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ChrisCillizza\/status\/1493602136281821195?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 15, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Sussmann\u2019s attorneys are <a href=\"https:\/\/storage.courtlistener.com\/recap\/gov.uscourts.dcd.235638\/gov.uscourts.dcd.235638.37.0_1.pdf\">pushing back<\/a>, but they admit that their client gave cell phone data to the FBI. Their claim is that researchers who gave him the data did so \u201cin good faith,\u201d that the data were not \u201cmanipulated,\u201d and that Sussmann did not know the claims were untrue.<\/p>\n<p>Sussmann also claims that he is innocent of the crime of lying to the FBI, which is the basis for his prosecution.<\/p>\n<p>The fact remains that both the government and the Clinton campaign\u2019s operatives targeted Trump, monitoring communications in an effort to investigate allegations of Russia \u201ccollusion\u201d and bring down a president.<\/p>\n<p><em>Joel B.
