There is also no evidence that any scientific trial took place that came to such a conclusion.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Fact Check:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The image shows what appears to be the headline of a BBC News article that reads, \u201cBreathing too many times a day could raise your risk of a deadly heart attack.\u201d The subheadline of the alleged article reads, \u201cTrial found that people who breathe more than 5 percent above the daily average had a rise in blood pressure and increased risk of myocarditis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In reality, the image does not show a genuine BBC News report. No article about frequent breathing raising an individual\u2019s heart attack risk can be found on the outlet\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/search?q=%22breathing+too+many+times%22+heart+attack&amp;page=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a>, and none of its <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=%22breathing%20too%20many%20times%22%20heart%20attack%20(from%3ABBCNews%20OR%20from%3ABBCWorld)&amp;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">social media<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/page\/228735667216\/search\/?q=%22breathing%20too%20many%20times%22%20heart%20attack\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">posts<\/a> feature such a claim. There is also <a href=\"https:\/\/scholar.google.com\/scholar?as_ylo=2022&amp;q=breathing+and+heart+attacks&amp;hl=en&amp;as_sdt=0,31\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">no recent scholarly article<\/a>&nbsp;that refers to such a trial or addresses the claim in the alleged BBC article. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2022\/02\/11\/fact-check-photo-human-heart-pork\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Does This Photo Show A Human Heart After Eating Pork?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Obesity, stress and a lack of physical activity can increase the risk of having a heart attack, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/heart-attack\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20373106#:~:text=A%20heart%20attack%20occurs%20when%20one%20or%20more%20of%20your,disease%2C%20causes%20most%20heart%20attacks.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mayo Clinic<\/a>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/heart-attack\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20373106#:~:text=A%20heart%20attack%20occurs%20when%20one%20or%20more%20of%20your,disease%2C%20causes%20most%20heart%20attacks.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">clinic<\/a> notably does not list \u201cbreathing too much\u201d as a possible risk factor. A <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/19919399\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2009 study<\/a> published in the medical journal \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/journals\/iblo20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Blood Pressure<\/a>\u201d failed to find evidence that controlling a person\u2019s breathing rate markedly affected their blood pressure.<\/p>\n<p>Shortness of breath can be a symptom of a heart attack or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/myocarditis\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20352539\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">myocarditis<\/a>, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hopkinsmedicine.org\/heart_vascular_institute\/conditions_treatments\/conditions\/shortness_breath.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Johns Hopkins Medicine<\/a>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinic.org\/diseases-conditions\/myocarditis\/symptoms-causes\/syc-20352539\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mayo Clinic<\/a> explains that myocarditis is \u201can inflammation of the heart muscle\u201d that \u201ccan reduce the heart\u2019s ability to pump and cause rapid or irregular heart rhythms.\u201d It is most often caused by viral infections and cannot be prevented by any known medical treatment or chosen habit, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.myocarditisfoundation.org\/about-myocarditis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Myocarditis Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time BBC News has been the target of fake headlines.
