door to the airplane.<\/p>\n<p>In a social media post Sunday afternoon, FBI Kansas City <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FBIKansasCity\/status\/1493011499098517510?s=20&amp;t=HqLtMYp04Pf0vHz5D8rgdg\">shared<\/a> a statement addressing the situation.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cEarlier today, an American Airlines flight originating from Los Angeles Airport (LAX) en route to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) was diverted to Kansas City International Airport (MCI),\u201d the agency said:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Statement regarding a diverted flight to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KCIAirport?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@KCIAirport<\/a> earlier today, from FBI Kansas City Special Agent in Charge Charles Dayoub. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ql5cQRpbZM\">pic.twitter.com\/ql5cQRpbZM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 FBI Kansas City (@FBIKansasCity) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FBIKansasCity\/status\/1493011499098517510?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 13, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The flight had to land in Kansas City because of an \u201cunruly passenger interfering with the flight crew,\u201d the post read, adding that the man had been taken into custody.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Passenger Mouaz Moustafa told Fox News everything seemed all right until a flight attendant told another to switch on the lights and the plane began descending quickly:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThere was a man who was trying to get into the cockpit and trying to open the cockpit door, and he was trying to also open the plane door after he, I guess, failed at the cockpit door,\u201d Moustafa told Fox News Digital.&nbsp;\u201cAs people were trying to subdue him and everything, the same flight attendant runs all the way to the back and grabs like a coffee pot, goes all the way to the front and starts bashing this guy, like in the head,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A video <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=gM70IhcmOS4\">recorded<\/a> by Moustafa appeared to show someone on the floor as others were hovering over the person.<\/p>\n<p>Passengers leaned into the aisle to see what was happening but everyone seemed to be calm.<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>On what appeared to be his Twitter profile, Moustafa <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SoccerMouaz\/status\/1492992864246063104\">shared<\/a> a clip of himself speaking with the pilot, who Moustaka said \u201ctried to bring us down as soon as possible\u201d after the man\u2019s attempts to open the doors.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Chatting with the pilot just now of <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/AA1775?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#AA1775<\/a> great pilot he told me that we were 40 mins out of were on the scene when the plane touched down in Kansas City, the Fox News report said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re grateful to our crew members, who are consistently dedicated to the safety and care of
