This is what we need to pay attention to, rather than worrying about a so-called \u2018Russian invasion\u2019 hyped by the U.S.,\u201d speculated Jin Canrong of Renmin University.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The <\/span><i><span>Global Times <\/span><\/i><span>chastised several nations that are not as \u201ccalm as China\u201d following the U.S. lead and reinforcing the illusion of an imminent Russian invasion by evacuating their citizens from Ukraine, including the U.K., Australia, and Japan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>China\u2019s embassy in Ukraine also issued warnings to Chinese nationals last week, but of course the <\/span><i><span>Global Times <\/span><\/i><span>gave China a pass for taking prudent precautions instead of fear-mongering. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The <\/span><i><span>Global Times <\/span><\/i><span>urged Chinese Communist officials not to fall into the diplomatic \u201ctrap\u201d the U.S. is setting in Ukraine:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>On Sunday, Australia followed the US to urge China to help them push Russia, with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison calling on China to not remain \u201cchillingly silent\u201d on the crisis. On Thursday, US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield said \u201cWe would hope that the Chinese would play a role in encouraging the Russians to do the right thing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Chinese analysts said the attempt is clear, as Washington wants to create a trap for China \u2013 if China does what they say based on their information about Russia\u2019s invasion, then China-Russia ties would be harmed, but if China does not act they can accuse China of remaining \u201cchillingly silent.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Chinese Ambassador to the UN Zhang Jun responded on his Twitter account on Thursday immediately that \u201cOur message is consistent and clear: Resolve any differences through diplomacy. Stop hyping up the tension. Russia\u2019s legitimate security concerns should be seriously addressed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>The remarks by Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison to which the <\/span><i><span>Global Times <\/span><\/i><span>referred were <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/australia-evacuates-embassy-kyiv-ukraine-2022-02-13\/\"><span>made on Sunday<\/span><\/a><span> after Australia announced it was evacuating its embassy in Kyiv. The embassy staff was relocated to a temporary office in western Ukraine near the Polish border, while Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne advised all other Australians to leave Ukraine \u201cimmediately by commercial means.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>Morrison was&nbsp;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/au.news.yahoo.com\/china-slams-australia-desperate-gambler-sco-mo-hits-back-020047765.html\"><span>pushing back<\/span><\/a><span> against an earlier <\/span><i><span>Global Times <\/span><\/i><span>editorial that accused the U.S. of using Australia and its other Indo-Pacific partners as a \u201ctool to serve its own strategic goal of countering China and Russia simultaneously.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cAustralia appears to be the only loyal US follower in the bloc, betting all on worsening China-U.S. relations like a desperate gambler and even mulling to expand their target to Russia.
