Brussels Police have <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/zpz_polbru\/status\/1493107171189481475\">warned<\/a> motorists to avoid trying to drive into the city.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Authorities in charge of other European cities, such as Paris and Vienna, have made similar attempts to ban demos styled on anti-mandatory vaccine protests in Canada, though all so far have been futile.<\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brusselstimes.com\/belgium-all-news\/205852\/they-cant-stop-us-freedom-convoy-supporters-not-phased-by-ban\">report<\/a> by the&nbsp;<em>Brussels Times<\/em>, demonstrators planning on taking part in the convoy \u2014 which was banned by authorities last Thursday \u2014 had said that they were set on continuing with their plans, regardless of what local authorities say.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey can\u2019t stop us,\u201d one activist is reported as saying online. \u201cGo on and fight for your freedom. Screw this shitty government, [whether this protest is] banned or not.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAs if we were going to cancel everything now because we didn\u2019t get permission,\u201d wrote another. \u201cIf everyone just drives up to the Ring and pulls the key out of the ignition there, it\u2019s over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fresh reports Monday morning from the same outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brusselstimes.com\/belgium\/206168\/brussels-and-eu-on-high-alert-for-arrival-of-freedom-convoy\">reports<\/a> there are now 1,300 known vehicles on their way to Brussels to take part in the protest, with police patrols \u201cstationed at key entries to the city\u201d. French broadcaster TFI Info <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tf1info.fr\/sante\/covid-19-en-direct-coronavirus-des-convois-de-la-liberte-se-dirigent-vers-bruxelles-2208687.html\">reports<\/a> that 30 vehicles were intercepted and blocked by Police on the roads into Brussels this morning.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/France24_en\/status\/1492166542984761345\">Video<\/a> online meanwhile shows French motorists making the trek to Brussels in order to attend the Convoy.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"> \ud83c\uddf7 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/France?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#France<\/a>&#8216;s answer to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Canada?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Canada<\/a>\u2019s &#8216;Freedom Convoy&#8217; hit the roads on Thursday, with hundreds of motorists headed for <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Brussels?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Brussels<\/a> via <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Paris?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Paris<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Many have made connections between this and the Yellow Vest protests which rocked France before the pandemic. We are returning to normalcy,\u201d Politico reports Alexander De Croo, Belgium\u2019s Prime Minister, as saying.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will no longer be a[n enforced] closing time \u2026 nor a limit on the number of people seated at the same table.
