Should the petition reach 10,000 signatures, it will be considered for debate in Parliament.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>In January, amid record numbers of illegal migrants flooding across the Channel, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/01\/21\/migrant-coverup-uk-home-office-to-stop-publishing-daily-illegal-migrant-figures\/\">reports<\/a> emerged that Priti Patel\u2019s Home Office was planning on scrapping the daily reporting of migrant arrival in favour of a quarterly reporting scheme. The plan has drawn widespread criticism, with opponents claiming the government is trying to avoid the bad press suffered upon each arrival.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Breitbart, executive director of Migration Watch UK, Dr Ben Greening said: \u201cHiding the daily boat arrival numbers from the public in the midst of rocketing illegal crossings is a desperate move. The politicians and civil servants who helped enable this deadly mess to grow are clearly afraid that people will see the facts for what they are.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose in power are making a last-ditch bid to dodge responsibility. Please sign and share our petition as widely as possible to send a clear, unmistakable message that this is simply not acceptable in a democracy. We, the public, demand the truth,\u201d Dr Greening added.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>While the think tank <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MigrationWatch\/status\/1492136340481265668\">accused<\/a> the coverup of already taking place, the Home Office told Breitbart that there is \u201cno basis\u201d to the claims and that the figures are still publicly available. After a record January, in which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/02\/01\/six-times-as-many-migrants-land-in-britian-in-january-than-last-year\/\">over 1,300 landed<\/a> compared to 223 last year, there were curiously no crossings for two weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The sudden lull was blamed on windy weather conditions, and the Home Office did report that <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SimonJonesNews\/status\/1492636656054194178\">eleven migrants<\/a> landed in Britain on Saturday. It is not clear, however, how much longer the data will be made available to news outlets.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Six Times as Many Migrants Land on English Soil in January than Last Year <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/6XHetGZgN1\">https:\/\/t.co\/6XHetGZgN1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1488560526405738496?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 1, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The government has been warned that as many as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/01\/19\/uk-govt-warned-65000-illegal-boat-migrants-may-land-this-year\/\">65,000 could land this year<\/a>, nearly double last year\u2019s record of 28,400. However, some, including Brexit\u2019s Nigel Farage have said that the country could see as many as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/01\/06\/farage-predicts-60000-boat-migrants-will-reach-britain-this-year\/\">80,000<\/a> arrive if the government fails to act.<\/p>\n<p>The Royal Navy has been tasked with coordinating the migrant crisis in the coming months, yet, the branch of the armed service has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2022\/01\/20\/farage-deploying-navy-to-channel-migrant-crisis-is-expensive-taxi-service\/\">reportedly baulked<\/a> at any notion of actually turning back the boats to France.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Commenting on the scale of the issue Dr Ben Greening told Breitbart:&nbsp;\u201cOur unique Channel Tracking Station has, over nearly two years since the late Spring of 2020, helped to reveal the government\u2019s sheer incompetence as reported arrivals by dinghy rose an astonishing 95-fold between 2018 and 2021.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe debacle in the Channel has seen the UK become a powerful magnet for Europe\u2019s failed asylum claimants, who are coming here as a last resort from safe places, with many destroying their identification on the way.
