Your colleague Karen Bass, running for Mayor of Los Angeles, is trying to increase the police force in L.A. Cori Bush, Congresswoman from Missouri, is saying it\u2019s time to defund the police, she\u2019s sticking by that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re the Speaker, how do you think Democrats should address rising crime?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, with all the respect in the world for Cori Bush, that is not the position of the Democratic Party,\u201d Pelosi replied. \u201cCommunity safety, to protect and defend in every way, is our oath of office. And I have sympathy, I\u2019m \u2014 we\u2019re all concerned about mistreatment of people and that\u2019s why Karen Bass had the Justice in Policing Act, and we would hope to get some of that done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pelosi went on to say that there was certainly room to reform issues like <a href=\"https:\/\/dailywire.com\/news\/louisville-city-council-bans-no-knock-warrants-through-breonnas-law-rand-paul-proposes-similiar-effort\/\">no-knock warrants<\/a> or choke holds, but that the Democratic Party was not going to adopt \u201cdefund the police\u201d as a policy position.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMake no mistake, community safety is our responsibility,\u201d Pelosi continued. \u201cAnd I quote one of my colleagues from New York, Ritchie Torres, a brand new member of Congress, way on the left, saying that \u2018Defund the Police is dead.\u2019 That causes a concern with a few in our caucus, but public safety is our responsibility and I support what Karen Bass is doing and Mayor Adams of New York.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bush, who said a number of members of Congress had asked her to back off the \u201cdefund the police\u201d rhetoric, doubled down on her position last week. As The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/democratic-rep-cori-bush-promises-to-keep-saying-defund-the-police\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>\u201c\u2018Defund the police\u2019 is not the problem,\u201d Bush said to the D.C.-based media outlet, referring to the potential shellacking Democrats will take in the 2022 midterms.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The real problem, Bush asserted, is that the Democrats in power have not passed any legislation to accurately reform police and tackle crime.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe dangled the carrot in front of people\u2019s faces and said we can get it done and that Democrats deliver, when we haven\u2019t totally delivered,\u201d she continued. \u201cIf [Republicans] take the majority, it\u2019s just done as far as trying to get the legislation across.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><i>The Daily Wire\u2019s first original film, Shut In, has made its cinematic debut, being met with rave reviews.
