Sean Maloney (D-NY) trials his Republican Challenger, New York State Assemblyman Colin Schmitt, according to a recent&nbsp;<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PollTrackerUSA\/status\/1492253981262893059\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">poll<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The race for New York\u2019s 18th congressional district is close, but Schmitt has the edge over Maloney. The survey found that 38 percent of voters would prefer Schmitt compared to Maloney\u2019s 37 percent.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"de\" dir=\"ltr\">2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/NY18?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#NY18<\/a> General Election Poll:<\/p>\n<p>Colin Schmitt (R) 38% (+1)<br \/>Sean Patrick Maloney (D-Inc) 37%<\/p>\n<p>BK Strategies\/<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/colinschmitt?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@colinschmitt<\/a> (R) Internal ~ 300 LV ~ 2\/5-2\/7<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/s3JFY9VQBf\">https:\/\/t.co\/s3JFY9VQBf<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 PollTracker (@PollTrackerUSA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PollTrackerUSA\/status\/1492253981262893059?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 11, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>According to BK Strategies\u2019s poll&nbsp;<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/washingtontimes.com\/news\/2022\/feb\/11\/dccc-chair-sean-maloney-vulnerable-new-yorks-18th-\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">analysis<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Given that Schmitt has so far done no paid advertising and is largely unfamiliar to a majority of the district, the combination of Schmitt\u2018s current lead, the challenging political environment for Democrats in NY-18 and Maloney\u2018s lack of voter support all strongly indicate that the district is poised to flip in the November election.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Schmitt is ahead in the polls even though his opponent\u2019s campaign has more than $1 million cash on hand. Schmitt has approximately $257,000 cash on hand, compared to Maloney\u2019s $1.7 million.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Washington Times<\/em> first&nbsp;<a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/washingtontimes.com\/news\/2022\/feb\/11\/dccc-chair-sean-maloney-vulnerable-new-yorks-18th-\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;on the poll.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Mr. Schmitt said the poll shows Mr. Maloney has \u201cplaced his role as Nancy Pelosi\u2019s Democrat campaign chairman ahead of the values and interests of his own constituents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHudson Valley voters want someone who will represent them in Congress, instead of advancing the Democrats\u2019 national political agenda,\u201d he said in a statement.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Additionally, the poll found that 39 percent of voters would rather see someone other than Maloney in office, compared to just 28 percent who would vote to reelect Maloney. Maloney is also losing ground with independent voters. Among independents, 43 percent said they would rather see a fresh face, and 75 percent believe the nation is on the wrong track.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The poll surveyed 300 voters in New York\u2019s 18th Congressional district.
