Biden\u2019s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has since said \u201cno federal funding will be used\u2026 to put pipes in safe smoking kits,\u201d Breitbart News <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/08\/update-biden-hhs-says-it-wont-use-federal-funds-to-put-pipes-in-safe-smoking-kits\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The legislation, officially dubbed \u201c<span class=\"a\">Halting the Use of&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"a\">Narcotics Through Effective Recovery Act of 2022\u2019\u2019 or the \u201cHUNTER Act of 2022,\u201d&nbsp; was introduced by Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and Rep. Dan Bishop (R-NC), Fox News reports. The bill\u2019s name seemingly takes a swipe at President Joe Biden\u2019s son, Hunter Biden, whose past struggles with crack cocaine addiction have been well-<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/clips\/2021\/04\/04\/hunter-biden-admits-he-smoked-parmesan-cheese-after-mistaking-it-for-crack\/\">documented<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Boebert told Fox News:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span>Congressman Bishop and I are standing up and saying, heck no. Our tax dollars should not be funding the death and destruction of crack addicts. Democrats are always putting the American taxpayer last and Republicans just want to give people in need a good job. Democrats want to give them crack pipes.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"a\">The legislation&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scribd.com\/document\/558279997\/Hunter-Act#from_embed\">states<\/a> in part:&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"a\">(a) I<\/span><span class=\"a\">N&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"a\">G<\/span><span class=\"a\">ENERAL<\/span><span class=\"a\">.\u2014No Federal funds, including&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"a\">funds appropriated by section 2706 of the American Res<\/span><span class=\"a\">cue Plan Act of 2021 (42 U.S.C. 290dd\u20133 note), may be<\/span><span class=\"a\">&nbsp;used&nbsp;for&nbsp;the&nbsp;purchase,&nbsp;or&nbsp;to&nbsp;support&nbsp;the&nbsp;purchase&nbsp;by&nbsp;any&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"a\">recipient of Federal assistance, of any drug paraphernalia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"a\">(b) D<\/span><span class=\"a\">EFINITION<\/span><span class=\"a\">\u2014In this section, the term \u2018\u2018drug&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"a\">paraphernalia\u2019\u2019\u2014&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"a\">(1) has the definition given to that term in sec<\/span><span class=\"a\">tion 863 of title 18, United States Code; and&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"a\">(2) includes, to the extent covered by such defi<\/span><span class=\"a\">nition, crack pipes, harm reduction vending ma<\/span><span class=\"a\">chines, syringes, and safe smoking kits and supplies.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"ff8\">\n<p><span> \u201cI like the HUNTER Act because it was a better acronym than Stop Paying to Subsidize Biden\u2019s Son\u2019s Drug Addiction act. That didn\u2019t really flow,\u201d Boebert told Fox News. \u201cI think tax dollars have been on the hook for Hunter\u2019s addictions long enough.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span> \u201cThe HUNTER Act is a means of encapsulating how ridiculous public policy can become when it\u2019s in the hands of the woke,\u201d Bishop told the outlet.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Though the HHS has denied crack pipes would be included in safe smoking kits, Boebert and Bishop remain firm on the proposed HUNTER Act.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhenever they are caught red-handed they use the phrase misinformation or disinformation to stop the American people from calling them out,\u201d Bishop told Fox News. \u201cThat\u2019s what happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want that in statute.
