Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, perhaps embarrassed that his silence had come to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/02\/10\/pete-buttigieg-mia-as-canadian-protests-shut-bridges-to-commercial-traffic-from-u-s\/\">public attention<\/a>, let it be known that it was part of the effort.<\/p>\n<p>Trudeau was urged to use his \u201cfederal powers,\u201d whatever those are, to end a standoff that Biden can no longer afford to ignore. And the Associated Press <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/coronavirus-pandemic-business-health-detroit-canada-20f273b32bfa8ef695fdabcc7e11321e\">reported<\/a>: \u201cA federal government official said they are not ruling out any options.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those options, as <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/chrisensingcbc\/status\/1491865960868990977?s=21\">outlined<\/a> by the owner of the bridge (yes, this crucial piece of infrastructure is privately owned), are as follows:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<ol>\n<li>Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau could simply cancel the vaccine mandates for truckers \u2014 9 in 10 of whom are vaccinated anyway, and who kept supply lines open for two years, vaccinated or not;<\/li>\n<li>Trudeau could use force against Canadian citizens.<\/li>\n<li>Wait.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Of these, the first option is the most obvious, though Trudeau does not want to be seen to be backing down.<\/p>\n<p>Trudeau, his Liberal Party, and the left-leaning Canadian media attempted to spin the protests as racist, Islamophobic, antisemitic, and even anti-Inuit. (Trudeau, who has a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/02\/01\/conservative-leader-condemns-trudeau-for-calling-truckers-racist-when-he-has-worn-blackface-more-times-than-he-can-remember\/\">penchant<\/a> for wearing blackface, is an authority on bigotry.)<\/p>\n<p>But they struggled to explain why a vaccine mandate for truckers, who spend every moment of their working lives \u201csocially distant\u201d in their trucks, was being enforced, especially as Trudeau himself had described potential vaccine mandates as \u201cextreme\u201d and \u201cdivisive\u201d just one year before.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/VaccineMandates?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#VaccineMandates<\/a> are \u201cextreme measures that could have real divisive impacts\u201d in Canada. \u201cThere are a broad range of reasons why someone might not get vaccinated.\u201d<br \/>\u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JustinTrudeau?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@JustinTrudeau<\/a>, January 14, 2021. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/cdnpoli?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#cdnpoli<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/18ndhEPKYW\">pic.twitter.com\/18ndhEPKYW<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Holly Doan (@hollyanndoan) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hollyanndoan\/status\/1491258708034482176?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 9, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Trudeau, who announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19 despite three vaccinations, would not meet with the truckers, much less march with them through the city, as he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/06\/05\/us\/justin-trudeau-kneel-black-lives-matter-trnd\/index.html\">did<\/a> in 2020 to show solidarity with Black Lives Matter \u2014 a movement linked to riots in 48 out of 50 U.S. cities that summer. Instead, he <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/healthcare\/public-global-health\/593251-trudeau-anti-vaccine-mandate-trucker-protest-has-to\">called<\/a> them a threat to democracy.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Curiously, however, Psaki did not go there: on behalf of the White House, which routinely calls its own opponents racists, she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/2022\/02\/08\/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-jen-psaki-february-8-2022\/\">defended<\/a> the truckers\u2019 right to free speech and protest.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The reason is clear: inflation is skyrocketing to 40-year <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2022\/02\/10\/january-cpi\/\">highs<\/a> of 7.5%, thanks in part to supply chain woes, and the last thing the Biden administration wants to do is antagonize the trucking industry.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>With sporadic<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span>\u201cfreedom convoys\u201d appearing across the nation to show solidarity with the Canadian truckers, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/trucker-protest-convoy-super-bowl-los-angeles-dhs-warning\/\">reports<\/a> of a convoy that would disrupt the Super Bowl and the State of the Union address, the White House is eager to appease truckers and keep as many of them on the job as possible, not provoke them to civil disobedience.<\/p>\n<p>Canada faces some of the same economic pressures. But unlike Canada, the U.S. media still has some ideological diversity \u2014 at least until Biden\u2019s political appointees, and his backers in Silicon Valley, eliminate it.<\/p>\n<p>Canada\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rebelnews.com\/\">Rebel News<\/a> stood alone in covering the truckers firsthand; Breitbart News picked up the story, thanks to on-the-ground <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/clips\/2022\/02\/07\/canadian-veteran-didnt-serve-bullied-chicken-pm\/\">reporting<\/a> by Robert Kraychik; and other conservative outlets in the U.S. followed suit. Soon, the establishment media, which ignores the southern border, had to cover the northern one.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>It is no accident that this was the week Democrat-run \u201cblue\u201d states \u2014 California, New York, Illinois \u2014 started dropping some of their mask mandates. In Virginia, now run by a Republican governor, half the Democrats in the state legislature flip-flopped on mask mandates, suddenly voting to drop them.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">About one half of Senate Democrats in Virginia voted to lift the school mask mandates today by giving parents opt-out powers for their children. A week ago, the entire Virginia Democratic Party was fighting Youngkin on this. That&#8217;s a very quick turnaround.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Zaid Jilani (@ZaidJilani) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ZaidJilani\/status\/1491226399855693824?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 9, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In Congress, Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) and other knee-jerk liberals started <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tedlieu\/status\/1490738835998711810\">opining<\/a> on social media about the importance of \u201cnatural\u201d immunity \u2014 behavior that might have gotten you kicked off Twitter for \u201cmisinformation\u201d a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian truckers frightened the Democrats. Here was the spectacle of the \u201cworkers of the world\u201d uniting, long a romantic socialist vision \u2014 and they were uniting against the socialists, against punitive and intrusive regulations, against the smug assertion of \u201cscience\u201d as determined by partisan politburos.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the truckers are politically conservative; some are just working-class guys \u2014 and women \u2014 who are fed up with the carefully coiffed likes of Justin Trudeau telling them whether they have the right to make a living.<\/p>\n<p>Psaki said this week that the White House would not yet follow the lead of Democratic states and call for the removal of mandates. But she tried to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/briefing-room\/press-briefings\/2022\/02\/04\/press-briefing-by-press-secretary-jen-psaki-2\/\">sell<\/a> the idea that Biden, who spent 2020 in a basement, was never in favor of lockdowns, and Trump was to blame.<\/p>\n<p>The fact is that Democrats can hear the political upheaval coming. It is in the rumble of 18-wheelers \u2014 like the one Biden once <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/07\/29\/joe-biden-sparks-confusion-with-claim-he-used-to-drive-an-18-wheeler\/\">claimed<\/a> he drove \u2014 north of the border.<\/p>\n<p>This was the week that Canada \u2014 O, Canada! \u2014 liberated the United States.
