Wade decision that made abortion on demand the law of the land.<\/p>\n<p>House lawmakers moved the resolution forward on a 72-20 vote.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The LifeNews website<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2022\/02\/08\/tennessee-house-passes-resolution-to-fly-flags-at-half-staff-to-mourn-babies-killed-in-abortions\/\"> reported<\/a> on the development:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The mourning day will be known as the \u201cDay of Tears,\u201d and the measure suggests that Tennesseans should mourn the lives of tens of millions of babies who were killed in abortions.<\/p>\n<p>In 1973, the U.S. Supreme Court forced states to legalize abortion on demand through&nbsp;<i>Roe v. Wade<\/i>. Since then,&nbsp;more than 63 million unborn babies have been aborted, including about 1 million annually.<\/p>\n<p>Lawmakers in Ohio, Idaho, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Mississippi and South Carolina have introduced similar \u201cDay of Tears\u201d resolutions. The Idaho state House has approved its resolution and sponsor Rep. Barbara Ehardt, R-Idaho Falls, talked about why she introduced it.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe are creating a day of remembrance,\u201d Ehardt said. \u201cThis isn\u2019t a cheap ploy; this is about putting us in a position to remember, and in our own way, doing something about it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis resolution seeks to honor and help us remember those that have passed on,\u201d Ehardt said. \u201cIt is another way to remind us of a wrong that we have an opportunity, coming up hopefully in the next six months, to make right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>LifeNews cited that polls consistently show&nbsp;that&nbsp;a strong majority of Americans&nbsp;oppose abortion on demand and support strong legal protections for unborn babies.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2022\/01\/18\/new-poll-52-of-millennials-want-abortions-banned-after-unborn-babys-heart-starts-beating\/\">A Vinea Research\/Students for Life poll found<\/a>&nbsp;52 percent of millennials support banning all or most abortions once an unborn baby\u2019s heartbeat is detectable \u2014 about six weeks of pregnancy.
