Per the St. Louis American:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The children grapple with the harsh realities of implicit bias and the trauma that comes with bearing witness to racial violence. Before bedtime, Gabriel confesses to his abuela that he is terrified after seeing the news where he saw someone suffer simply because they had the same skin color as he has. \u2018This world may seem unfair at times, but whenever you\u2019re afraid, just keep In mind, that I\u2019ll be here,\u2019 she responds.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The songs were written by&nbsp;Amir \u201cQuestlove\u201d Thompson and Tariq \u201cBlack Thought\u201d Trotter, who also served as executive producers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe \u2018Rise Up, Sing Out\u2019 shorts touch on a lot of real-world issues, especially for young Black kids, that just weren\u2019t talked about when we were growing up,\u201d Questlove and Black Thought said in a statement.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/RiseUpSingOut?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#RiseUpSingOut<\/a> producers <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/questlove?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@questlove<\/a> and Latoya Raveneau, and Disney Junior&#8217;s Kim Berglund talk about <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/DisneyJunior?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#DisneyJunior<\/a>&#8216;s new animated shorts. &#8220;Rise Up, Sing Out&#8221; is now available on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DisneyJunior?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@DisneyJunior<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DisneyChannel?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@DisneyChannel<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8fqGIqoNe1\">pic.twitter.com\/8fqGIqoNe1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Disney Branded TV PR (@DisneyBrandTVPR) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DisneyBrandTVPR\/status\/1488924714298867713?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 2, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe beautiful thing about these shorts is that not only are they going to provide young kids the proper language to talk to their friends and family about some of the things that might be bothering them, but it\u2019s also going to give parents the tools on how to respond,\u201d the added.<\/p>\n<p>In the opening episode, Black Thought raps: \u201cRacism in the world affects me and you, and it\u2019s time to end it now. Come together, we\u2019ll show you how. I feel real good showing love to the people in my neighborhood. If we love one another everybody can win, just talk to me if you want to be my friend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One short in particular that began to go viral on social media touches on the topic of microaggressions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA microaggression is when someone says or does something that makes you feel bad. Sometimes just because of your race,\u201d a child says in the episode. \u201cBut you know what, he\u2019s wrong. You should be proud of your skin, it\u2019s what makes you-YOU!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know just how you feel \u2013 and it wasn\u2019t okay, the way she touched your hair and didn\u2019t give you a say,\u201d the group sings. \u201c Speak up, &nbsp;if you\u2019ve got something to say. Or it\u2019s okay to walk away. Speak up. Let \u2018em know just how it is.
