Charlie Baker (R) is one of the latest governors across the country to lift mask mandates for children in schools, making the announcement Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The state-sanctioned school mask mandate will not extend beyond February 28, the governor announced.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cGiven the extremely low risk to young people, the widespread availability and the proven effectiveness of vaccines, and the distribution of accurate test protocols, and tests, it\u2019s time to give our kids a sense of normalcy and lift the mask mandate on a statewide basis for schools,\u201d Baker said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The decision, he explained, was made after \u201ccareful consultation with public health officials,\u201d adding that the&nbsp;state\u2019s Department of Public Health \u201cissued guidance for school districts for using masks in specific scenarios.\u201d<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>State education commissioner Jeffrey Riley <a href=\"https:\/\/whdh.com\/news\/baker-mass-to-lift-school-mask-mandate-at-end-of-month\/\">explained<\/a> that masks will still be required on buses due to federal regulations and that \u201csome individual schools districts may choose to extend the mask requirement beyond Feb. 28,\u201d according to 7 News Boston.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe removing the mask requirement will make it easier for students to learn, particularly our young readers and students learning English as a second language,\u201d Riley said.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_16491266\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/School.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-16491266\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/School.jpg\" alt=\"Headteacher Bob Merrell tells a story to children of key workers take as they take part in school activities at Oldfield Brow Primary School on April 08, 2020 in Altrincham, England.
