Charlie Baker (R) lifting the school mask mandate beginning February 28, as Boston Mayor Michelle Wu (D) claims children want to remain masked up beyond that date.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven the extremely low risk to young people, the widespread availability and the proven effectiveness of vaccines, and the distribution of accurate test protocols, and tests, it\u2019s time to give our kids a sense of normalcy and lift the mask mandate on a statewide basis for schools,\u201d Baker <a href=\"https:\/\/whdh.com\/news\/baker-mass-to-lift-school-mask-mandate-at-end-of-month\/\">announced<\/a> during a press conference this week, after several other governors made similar announcements.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Boston Public Schools (BPS), however, will keep its mask mandate in place, as the mayor proclaims that children want it longer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoston Public Schools is reviewing today\u2019s announcement from state officials on masking in schools,\u201d BPS said in a statement following Baker\u2019s announcement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe remain in close contact with our partners at the Boston Public Health Commission and will continue our masking requirements for students and staff in our schools and on our school buses,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Wu took to social media Wednesday night, revealing that she met with \u201c70+ of our most engaged high schoolers in Boston\u201d who apparently want to remained masked up beyond February 28:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Tonight I met with 70+ of our most engaged high schoolers in Boston.
