I\u2019m super proud of myself for going out and trying to do it,\u201d Kim <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/olympics\/story\/_\/id\/33256461\/american-chloe-kim-21-secures-history-consecutive-olympic-golds-snowboard-halfpipe-event\"><span>said<\/span><\/a><span>. \u201cI\u2019m looking forward to being able to land it at the next one \u2026 Now I\u2019m so eager to see my family, my boyfriend, my dog. Then I will feel all the feelings and be proud of myself.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Also on Thursday, Nathan Chen became the first U.S. men\u2019s Olympic figure skater since 2010 to win a gold medal.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt means the world. I\u2019m just so happy,\u201d Chen <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/02\/10\/china\/nathan-chen-olympic-gold-beijing-intl-hnk\/index.html\"><span>said<\/span><\/a><span> following the win, adding there were \u201ctoo many emotions to process\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt\u2019s a whirlwind right now,\u201d Chen continued. \u201cI had a blast out there.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Good morning to everyone but especially to Olympic champion NATHAN CHEN. \ud83d\udc51<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/5dxRkP2anm\">pic.twitter.com\/5dxRkP2anm<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NBC Olympics (@NBCOlympics) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NBCOlympics\/status\/1491775209120043015?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 10, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>Chen claimed the gold days after setting the world-record score with the highest score in the history of the short program, getting a score of 113.97 from the judges. Chen landed a triple axel and two quadruple jumps in his routine, vaulting the American to the top of the leaderboard.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Chen\u2019s performance was a massive rebound from his disastrous result at the 2018 Winter Games in Pyeongchang, where he was the favorite to win the gold medal but finished in fifth place.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cI think that looking back in 2018, all I could think about was skating and not being able to, obviously, skate well. So I want to definitely be able to embrace the Games in a different way,\u201d Chen <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/sports\/beijing-olympics-nathan-chen-returns-to-the-ice\/\"><span>told<\/span><\/a><span> People prior to the start of the Olympics.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt\u2019s so easy to fall into the trap of being like, \u2018Oh my gosh, the pressure\u2019s building. Everything\u2019s so stressful. Everything\u2019s so scary,\u2019 \u201d Chen <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/sports\/beijing-olympics-nathan-chen-returns-to-the-ice\/\"><span>continued<\/span><\/a><span>. \u201cI think that feeling in that way isn\u2019t necessarily a bad thing all the time, but just being able to remind yourself like, yes, this is a pretty stressful time, but at the same time, there\u2019s a lot more to life.
