Read the full <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/NTAS?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#NTAS<\/a> Bulletin here: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/jNJR39fRBg\">https:\/\/t.co\/jNJR39fRBg<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/W2gUvHWyIB\">pic.twitter.com\/W2gUvHWyIB<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Homeland Security (@DHSgov) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DHSgov\/status\/1490763733026619392?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 7, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>The \u201cthreat actors\u201d are accused of seeking to \u201cexacerbate societal friction to sow discord and undermine public trust in government institutions to encourage unrest,\u201d which could potentially lead to acts of violence.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>Citizens are also warned of \u201c[m]ass casualty attacks and other acts of targeted violence\u201d by those \u201cacting in furtherance of ideological beliefs and\/or personal grievances.\u201d&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The bulletin also designates individuals and small cells \u201cmotivated by a range of foreign and\/or domestic grievances often cultivated through the consumption of certain online content\u201d as <\/span><span>the \u201cprimary terrorism-related threat\u201d to the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe convergence of violent extremist ideologies, false or misleading narratives, and conspiracy theories have and will continue to contribute to a heightened threat of violence in the United States,\u201d it states.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Both \u201cunsubstantiated widespread election fraud\u201d and the coronavirus are listed as examples of subjects in which \u201cfalse or misleading narratives\u201d are being proliferated online.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cGrievances associated with these themes inspired violent extremist attacks during 2021,\u201d it claims.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>COVID measures such as vaccine and mask mandates are stated to \u201chave been used by domestic violent extremists to justify violence since 2020\u201d and can potentially continue to inspire them \u201cto target government, healthcare, and academic institutions that they associate with those measures.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The introduction of 5G cellular technology, too, has been subject to \u201cfalse or misleading narratives,\u201d according to the bulletin.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>In addition, it claims the recent resettlement of tens of thousands of Afghan refugees following the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in August may be used to \u201cexacerbate long-standing grievances and justify attacks against immigrants.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>As a result, DHS and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are \u201csharing information and intelligence with our partners across every level of government and in the private sector\u201d to combat the aforementioned threats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The bulletin recommends that citizens report any \u201cpotential threats\u201d and keep safe online by maintaining the \u201cdigital and media literacy\u201d needed to \u201crecognize and build resilience to false or misleading narratives.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p><span>In response, the DHS publication drew sharp backlash online.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe sociopaths who run our government have decided free speech = terrorism,\u201d wrote Dan Gainor of the Media Research Center.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The sociopaths who run our government have decided free speech = terrorism. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/mNZBmL7WiN\">https:\/\/t.co\/mNZBmL7WiN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Dan Gainor (@dangainor) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/dangainor\/status\/1491122730481389569?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 8, 2022<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span>\u201cSo, a few of us are wondering, @DHSgov \u2026 ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MINDS?\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RonColeman\/status\/1491105261108752384?s=20&amp;t=rScfwSYUGZ3FxXbo1Ezwmw\"><span>wrote<\/span><\/a><span>&nbsp; First Amendment lawyer Ron Coleman.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Calling it \u201cthe most shocking thing I\u2019ve read in a while,\u201d conservative pundit Liz Wheeler warned that \u201cBiden is weaponizing DHS to label\u2026 well, you\u2026 as a terrorist.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">THREAD: This is the most shocking thing I\u2019ve read in a while.
