Troy Nehls said Tuesday that the United States Capitol Police \u201cillegally\u201d entered his office as part of an alleged investigation and that one of his staffers caught them in the act.<\/p>\n<p>Nehls <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepTroyNehls\/status\/1491065696335560708\">accused<\/a> Capitol Police officers of illegally entering his office twice during Thanksgiving week last year, during which they allegedly photographed sensitive legislative items.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUpon discovering a member of my staff, special agents dressed like construction workers began to question him as to the contents of a photograph taken illegally two days earlier,\u201d Nehls said, adding that Capitol Police \u201cnever informed myself or senior level staff of their investigation.\u201d&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/01\/07\/capitol-riot-pat-fallon-texas-congressmen-defend-chamber\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Texas Reps, Including Troy Nehls, Stayed With Capitol Police To Defend The House Chamber On Jan 6)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">They had no authority to photograph my office, let alone investigate myself or members of my staff.<\/p>\n<p>So, why is the Capitol Police Leadership maliciously investigating me in an attempt to destroy me and my character?<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Congressman Troy Nehls (@RepTroyNehls) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RepTroyNehls\/status\/1491065703239413761?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 8, 2022<\/a> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>While Nehls said that the reasons for their actions were \u201cclear,\u201d he did not give any details. He did, however, float that the investigation came in retaliation for his criticism of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the January 6 Committee and the Capitol Police itself.<\/p>\n<p>Nehls is part of Republicans\u2019 own committee related to the Jan. 6 riot, though the committee is not officially recognized, has relatively little funding, no permanent staff and no subpoena power. He was originally <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/19\/kevin-mccarthy-five-republicans-january-6-select-committee-capitol-riot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">named<\/a> to be a GOP member on the select committee, but Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/21\/kevin-mccarthy-every-republican-member-january-6-select-committee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">refused to participate<\/a> after Pelosi <a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/07\/21\/nancy-pelosi-rejects-two-republicans-january-6-select-committee-jim-jordan-jim-banks-capitol-riot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">refused to seat<\/a> Reps.
