He was an early supporter of Donald Trump\u2019s successful presidential bid in 2016, and gave an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/local\/2016\/07\/24\/peter-thiel-silicon-valley-republican-national-convention-dazed-confused\/\">acclaimed speech in support of Trump at that year\u2019s Republican National Convention<\/a>, at a time when most pollsters and pundits predicted a crushing defeat for the man who eventually won the White House.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>According to the&nbsp;<em>Wall Street Journal,&nbsp;<\/em>Thiel is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/peter-thiel-to-step-down-from-facebook-parent-metas-board-11644268545\">leaving Facebook\u2019s board<\/a> to focus his efforts on supporting conservatives running for office in 2022 that are \u201csupporting the agenda of former President Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5734562\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/trump-thiel-getty.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5734562\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/trump-thiel-getty.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Drew Angerer\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>While many in Silicon Valley have taken to hiding their conservative beliefs in recent years, Thiel has always been open about them. His book&nbsp;<em>The Diversity Myth,&nbsp;<\/em>co-authored with fellow PayPal co-founder David Sacks, skewered academia for embracing far-left views.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Thiel also provided funding for wrestler Hulk Hogan\u2019s lawsuit against Gawker Media, one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/the-media\/2015\/07\/27\/how-gamergate-shattered-gawkers-myth-of-invincibility\/\">pioneers of left-wing online \u201ccancel culture,\u201d<\/a> after the publication outed him as gay in 2007.<\/p>\n<p>Thiel later described his funding of the lawsuit, which bankrupted the far-left website and forced it out of business, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/05\/26\/business\/dealbook\/peter-thiel-tech-billionaire-reveals-secret-war-with-gawker.html?src=busln&amp;_r=1\">\u201cone of my greater philanthropic things that I\u2019ve done.\u201d&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>After achieving success with PayPal, Thiel moved into venture capital, where he swiftly made one of the most lucrative investment decisions of all time.
